Relative to my work system (cited above), my home system was MUCH slower :-(

Edge (80.0.361.50) scored 46.6;
Edge (80.0.361.54) scored 46.4
Firefox (73.0)                    34.5
MyPal (28.8.2; 32-bit)        15.4
PaleMoon (28.8.2.1; 32-bit) 13.3

Firefox (with the following extensions: Disconnect, HTTPS Everywhere, NoMiner and uBlock Origin) = 28.5
Clean install of Chrome-based Edge (no extensions installed) = 50.0
Edge (with HTTPS Everywhere and uBloick Origin, couldn't find the other two) = 43.6

Speed Test:  PING ms 25, DOWNLOAD Mbps 105.68, and  UPLOAD Mbps 11.66. 
I disabled all extensions on both Edge Dev and Pale Moon with no other tabs open and ran separately:

Edge Dev:  29.7
Pale Moon: 9.64

Strange.  I don't find that pages load slowly.

Which sort of makes sense given what those extensions are doing ...

Strange.  I don't find that pages load slowly.

I found the same thing on my laptop ... I wonder if this test is more theoretical than practical

"Starting with Microsoft Edge build 81.0.389.0..."

We've all been testing so far with build 80.x

And now, due to the corona virus, Microsoft has announced that it is PAUSING stable updates to Edge, so we won't be getting version 81.x any time soon (unless users opt for a "beta" channel).   Emphasize that Microsoft assures it will continue to deliver security and stability updates to Edge 80.

EDGE (Chromium) stable has just been updated to 81.0.416.53 , which means the speed improvements advertised by this specific test has now been implemented.

The impact of extensions:
           using EDGE 80.0.361.54   ;     vs.    using EDGE 81.0.416.53

It's interesting to note that, unlike other extensions (which slow down EDGE somewhat), MalwareBytes Browser Guard actually allows EDGE to run faster!
