• [Battery] New! Improved icons show your battery status with just a quick glance. When your battery icon is green, your PC is charging and in a good state. Yellow means that your PC battery is in energy saving mode. Windows makes this change for you when your battery power is less than or equal to 20%. Red means battery power is low, and you must plug in your PC as soon as possible. We're also introducing the ability to show your battery percentage next to the battery icon in the system tray which can be enabled via Settings > Power & battery and toggling on the "Battery Percentage" setting.
  
• [Taskbar]
  
  • New! You can now share files directly from a jump list on the taskbar. Jump lists appear when you right-click an app that has a jump list.
    
  • Fixed: It might identify an HDD as an SSD.
• [Windows Spotlight]
  
  • New! There's a quick and easy way to find out more information about a background image. Simply hover over the image or click the "Learn about this picture" icon.
    
  • New! This update makes Windows Spotlight easier to find. You'll notice changes to the icon color and background. Also, the icon will show at the lower right area on your desktop.
    
• [Lock screen] New! This update makes it easier to learn more about the image on your lock screen when you click the "Like" icon.
  
• [Narrator] New! There are new functions for Narrator scan mode. Skip past links (n) allows you to go to the text after a link. Use the comma (,) to jump to the start of an item (large table, long list, or another item.) Use the period (.) to jump to the end of an item. This is most helpful when you read long emails, news articles, and wiki pages. Jump to lists (l) allows you to quickly access a list on a web page or in a document. To use these new functions, turn on Narrator first (Windows logo key + Ctrl + Enter). Then turn scan mode on by pressing Caps lock + Spacebar. Note that scan mode is on by default on most web pages (like news articles, wiki page, and so on).
  
• [Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers] New! Some of you might see a new referral card for a PC Game Pass subscription on the Settings home page. With it, you can invite friends and family to try a PC Game Pass for free. If you qualify, the card only appears when you sign in to your PC using your Microsoft account.
  
• [File Explorer]
  
  • New! You can now snooze or turn off the "Start backup" reminder in the File Explorer address bar. This only applies if you are not already backing up your files and folder. To view this new option, right-click Start backup.
    
  • Fixed: Improves performance when it loads folders that have a large number of media files.
  • Fixed: When you enter a URL in the address bar, it might not go to the location.
  • Fixed: The address bar overlaps files when you use the F11 full-screen mode.
  • Fixed: The context menu opens slowly when you right-click cloud files.
  • Thumbnails for cloud files display more consistently in search results.
• [HTML Help Viewer] New! This update adds text scaling support.
  
• [Start menu] Fixed: The colors are wrong when you open the account manager flyout menu. This occurs when you use a mixed dark and light custom mode in Settings > Personalization > Colors.
  
• [Scanners] Fixed: Apps might not recognize a scanner is available when it is connected.

  • Fixed: The volume might increase to 100% when you wake your PC from sleep.
  • Fixed: You might hear a mute and unmute sound several times.
  • Fixed: A USB audio device might stop working after your PC is idle for a short time.
• [GDI+] Fixed: After you use GDI+ to shrink an image, the colors of the image might be wrong.
  
• [Mouse] Fixed: In Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch, you can choose a color for the mouse that is not the default. When you choose a color, it reverts to white after the User Account Control (UAC) dialog appears.

  • New! We are introducing Chinese support for voice access. You can now use Voice access to navigate, dictate, and interact with Windows using voice commands in Simplified Chinese (zh-cn) and Traditional Chinese (zh-tw).

• [File Explorer] Fixed: The "see more" (...) menu in the File Explorer command bar opens in the wrong direction in some cases.

• [Screen orientation] Fixed: Screen may unexpectedly change orientation coming out of sleep on 2-in-1 devices.
  
• [Application Installation] Fixed: The MsiCloseHandle API experiences prolonged execution time when handling MSI files containing a large number of files.
  
• [Boot menu] Fixed: If an update fails and rolls back, it may result in an extraneous and non-functional boot menu entry. This fix stops devices from newly encountering this. Extra boot entries can be managed in the Boot section of System Configuration (msconfig), if you have encountered this issue already.

  • Fixed: Kerberos authentication fails in certain scenarios when RC4 is used for encryption
  • Fixed: FIDO Cached Credential Logon may fail in certain cases when device is Hybrid Domain Joined.
  • Fixed: Opening certain apps after a password change could unexpectedly lead to lockout, if account lockout policy is enabled.
    
• [General Reliability] Fixed: An underlying issue may lead to your PC experiencing a bugcheck (blue screen) with PDC_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT when resuming from sleep.
  
• [Network] Fixed: The description of the virtual NIC doesn't display correctly in Network Connections (ncpa.cpl), showing garbage characters.
  
• [Color Profile] Fixed: Under Settings > System > Display > Color Management, it might not display the expected color profile list for the selected monitor.

With the AI capabilities of Copilot+ PCs, it's now possible to quickly find and get back to any app, website, image, or document just by describing its content. To use Recall, you will need to opt-in to saving snapshots, which are images of your activity, and enroll in Windows Hello to confirm your presence so only you can access your snapshots. You are always in control of what snapshots are saved and can pause saving snapshots at any time. As you use your Copilot+ PC throughout the day working on documents or presentations, taking video calls, and context switching across activities, Recall will take regular snapshots and help you find things faster and easier. • [Sign-In Impact] Fixed: This update addresses an issue affecting the USBxHCI controller and all devices that connect using a USB port on PCs based on Intel's newest CPU architecture. The built-in USB camera won't work with Windows Hello sign-in unless you manually disable Enhanced Sign-in Security (ESS). To turn off ESS, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Additional settings > Sign in with an external camera or fingerprint reader > toggle switch ON. If you create a Windows Hello container while using the Windows 11, version 23H2, it might prevent you from using ESS after you upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2.
  
• [Server Message Block (SMB)] Fixed: An issue where an Excel file, hosted on a SMB file share with Access Based Enumeration enabled, containing links to multiple other files hosted on network shares, might take longer to open.

Releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.3902 to the Release Preview Channel

[UPDATE 4/18] Build 26100.3909 (KB5055627) was released as a small update to Windows 11 Build 26100.3902 (KB5055627), released April 10, 2025.  The update addresses some issues with the update itself.

The following items originally slated for Gradual Rollout have been delayed:

Recall (preview) will be available starting early 2025 in most markets, rolling out to the European Economic Area later this year. Optimized for select languages (English, Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Japanese, and Spanish). Content-based and storage limitations apply. Requires Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security.   • New!1Ask Copilot is a new action within Click to Do. When you highlight text or an image, Click to Do offers the Ask Copilot Selecting it opens Microsoft Copilot with your content in the prompt box. You can send the selected text or image directly to the Copilot app to complete your prompt.
    
  • New! If your PC has pen and inking capabilities, you can configure the shortcut button to open Click to Do with a single-click, double-click, or press and hold through Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink.
    
  • New! You can add Click to Do as one of the four apps in the pen menu on your PC. If all slots for the pen menu are full, you might need to replace one app with Click to Do in the menu settings.

• [Graphics] New! Manage your PC's HDR features under Settings > System > Display > Updates include: A clearer label for "Use HDR" that better explains which media types are supported. The ability to stream HDR video even when HDR is turned off. On PCs with Dolby Vision, a new toggle lets you turn Dolby Vision on or off independently of HDR—giving you more control over your viewing experience.
  
• [Narrator] New! Enhance digital accessibility with AI-powered image descriptions in Narrator on Copilot+ PCs. This feature provides detailed descriptions of images, charts, and graphs for blind and low-vision users. To turn on Narrator, press Ctrl + Windows key + Enter or search for 'Narrator' in Windows search. Use Narrator key + Ctrl + D for image descriptions.

  • New! As part of improving Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs, we're beginning to roll out the ability to type a setting you're looking for in the Windows search box on your taskbar without needing to remember the exact setting name. For example, you can use your own words to find settings like "change my theme" or "about my PC". You no longer need to remember the exact setting name you are looking for.
    
  • New! In the European Economic Area (EEA), you can now find cloud photos using improved Windows Search on the taskbar. Describe the photos, like 'European castles' or 'summer picnics,' in the search box. Photos from the cloud and your Copilot+ PC appear in the search results. Exact keyword matches within your cloud files will also show up. This feature is gradually rolling out to Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with support for AMD and Intel-powered PCs coming soon.
