Accidentally unquarantined a malware file found by MBAM

I thought I was deleting a quarantined file MBAM flagged as holding malware.

The history readout is titled Malware Blocked, and then goes on to report the unquarantine action.   So did it restore the file without allowing the malware?....seems confusing.

Can I re-quarantine it?  I ran a deep scan of the system including for rootkits, and then rescanned the offending zip file which contains several .exe's, but MBAM did not find malware again.

I will delete the entire folder that contains the zip file  if that is safe to do, as it holds backups from programs I used in 2000.

If MBAM blocked it, that as far as I know, it wasn't installed.  However, I'll ask Metallica to take a look at your post. 

As to the folder with backups from 2000, if you no longer have a need for it, then it wouldn't hurt to do a clean backup.

I want to make sure I delete the right thing in a safe way.

The zip file in question was a backup file for a python plug in for GIMP.

Seeing as how the security updates were released almost a week ago, you should definitely finish the update.  Although I don't expect there to be any issues, create a System Restore Point before restarting.

Restart to install updates went smoothly.  We'll see if MBAM nightly scan finds anything amiss.

If Malwarebytes didn't flag it in the next scan, then you either:
- deleted the quarantained file
- or it was in a zip that was too large to scan as one file

If you want to be absolutely sure, you can unpack the zip and scan the unzipped file in a custom scan.
But I certainly wouldn't worry about it.
You did it right.

I did scan the unzipped file, and the scan was clean.  Thanks for the option to verify all is well. :)
