Corrine and I were taking a trip down memory lane, and were talking about some of Tom Coyote Wilson's recipes from back in the early spyware hunting days. I have made his brisket and Beefmasters Sauce many times over the years.  I wanted to share a link to them: https://tomcoyote.us/recipe.php

For those who don't know him, he's a former Microsoft MVP and co-founder of ASAP (with Maddoktor2).

Reading the "About" page certainly brought back a lot of memories.

If anyone is checking out other links, the sites may be closed or the links will redirect. In fact, looking at my old bookmarks, WTT is labeled "What the Tech | formerly known as TomCoyote". Many of the members there are still active at various help forums.

Another site I miss is 247fixes, closed for some time now but I still see therock247uk around from time to time.

I miss CastleCops as well, but i hardly visit any forums anymore. I check in here once in a while and at GeeksToGo, but that's about it. Back in the day I created a "Metallica" account on every forum that had something which could pass for a security section. Must have had about a hundred accounts. All lost because the email address I used back then was terminated.

I remember Castlecops and a matter of fact, I found BleepingComputer because of Castlecops. Found Sysnative at Bleeping, found Landzdown at Sysnative (Corrine)

I remember when you joined Freedomlist and requested a copy of a file that showed in a log in a thread I was helping with.  Winchester73 made a point of letting me know that it was a legitimate request.  I assured win73 that I knew who you were as I had seen your name at other sites and recognized that you were an MVP.

As to Castle Cops (originally Computer Cops), its relatively short life most certainly was a major stepping stone for Paul Laundanski.

Another memory about Castle Cops is when Marcin announced that he and Bruce were leaving to work on the development of what became Malwarebytes.  The MBAM original staff, some of whom are still around:

Chief Executive Officer: RubbeR DuckY/Marcin Kleczynski
Vice President of Research: nosirrah/Bruce Harrison
Vice President of Development: Swandog46/Doug Swanson
Developer: Merijn/Merijn Bellekom
Director of Research: miekiemoes/Mieke Verburgh
Research Engineer: Atribune/Dave Nelson, Fatdcuk/Ade Gill**, MysteryFCM/Steve Burn, S!Ri/Guillaume Strunck, sUBs/sUBs*
Manager Onlne Support: AdvancedSetup/Ron Lewis
Product Manager: exile/Samuel E Lindsey
Product Support: Ried/Lisa Riedthaier
Consumer Support Engineer: LDTate/Larry Tate, TeMerc/Tom Mercado, tetonbob/Bob Guryan
Consumer Support Specialist: screen317/Chris Fistonich
Malwarebytes Blogger: Metallica/Pieter Arntz

*Sadly, sUBs, the creator of ComboFix passed away June 11, 2022.
**Edit Note: I was advised that Ade has also passed away.

Seriously, I think it is special that long-time forum friends keep in touch.

My current position has allowed me to meet many of the people that were active at the forums around the turn of the century in person. And without exception they were all the helpful, kindhearted, and friendly soles you would expect in people that selflessly helped others with their computer problems.

(I can only hope to live up to that standard )

Absolutely no doubt about it! (If you need a pick-me-up, there is always 🍫)
