UAC nagging

WinPatrol PLUS 27.0.2013.0 has begun to trigger a UAC dialog every minute or so. The dialog contains this line:

Program location: "C:\Program Files (x86)\BillP Studios\WinPatrol\WinPatrolEx.exe" -RegRepair

Any idea how to get that stopped?

Hi, ancient1.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.

WinPatrol PLUS includes an advanced feature that allows you to monitor and protect any registry location.  This feature allows you to specify a value and WinPatrol will either alert you to a change or automatically lock the registry value that might change without your approval.

If by a UAC trigger you are referring to the alert from WinPatrol, have you made a change to something being monitored by WinPatrol?

No. I am referring to Windows User Account Control (UAC) dialogs, like the one pictured here but mentioning WinPatrol:

No recent changes have been made to WinPatrol's registry monitoring feature.

I was afraid that was what you meant.  It makes sense for UAC to request permission for elevation when launching WinPatrolEx.exe (the main tabbed interface or WinPatrol Explorer) as that is the power house that is allowed to change your system configuration values.  If WinPatrolEx.exe is closed, it will require UAC approval even if it is launched again within seconds.

Although with the changes to WinPatrol 2012, it shouldn't matter but do you have a HOSTS File program installed?

I'm going to point Bill Pytlovany to this thread.  It may be helpful to him to know if what your operating system is and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.

No hosts file program is, or ever has been, installed.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Service Pack 1.

It's morning here. Sleep clarified things. Yesterday, I had WinPatrol "Remove" (not "Disable") an autostart program: HotKeysCmds, or hkcmd.exe, associated with the Intel graphics driver software. The problem started after that. Re-enabling that autostart program via WinPatrol ended the incessant UAC prompts. I removed the program again, but the UAC prompts have not returned.

Ah, the wonders of sleep!  Thank you for letting me know, ancient1. 

Bill had acknowledged my e-mail but was waiting for your response to my question about the OS before attempting to see if he could somehow replicate what was happening.  Now he won't have to.  :)
