Post by: Dad on August 27, 2005, 01:40:13 AM
After having windows xp installed (clean install)
When I go to shut down windows is the only thing that shuts down .  I have to shut down my  computer manually.  What happened when windows xp was installed to cause this.

It appears that this is not uncommon with XP.  You may want to start with this Microsoft KB article:  Windows stops responding during Windows XP shut down (http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=307274).  (Was Service Pack 2 installed?  Have all Windows Updates been installed?

Also see the suggestions here:  WINDOWS XP SHUTDOWN & RESTART TROUBLESHOOTING (http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php)
