Occasionally, I would get a pop-up window with the statement "This page contains both secure and non-secure items. Do you want to display the non-secure items?" It usually happened when I went to my online wireless account, and nothing more, not even the bank account. Now it is happening more often, even when I go to gmail.
Is it really necessary? How can I get rid of this pesky warning?
(The 'Yes" reply is highlighted and all it takes is one click of the 'enter' button to get rid of the warning each time, but it has been happening so frequently (sometimes going to and going out of gmail) that it is really becoming a PIA).
Thanks for your help.

Hi, Lena. If its IE you are using right click on internet explorer > Properties > Advanced Tab.
Scroll down to the bottom and un-tick warn if changing between secure and not secure mode ..
numbnuts. :flowers:
Thanks numbnuts. I went there, and it was already unchecked (that's why I didn't find that statement when I looked before).
So I checked it, hit apply, closed the program, reopened it, unchecked the statement, hit apply, closed it, restarted IE7. This is wierd. It still does it when going to the wireless account (which I can live with), but didn't do it during multiple access to my many gmail accounts.

What's happening is the page you're going to is loading via HTTPS, and there are elements in the page that are loading via HTTP and not HTTPS (in other words, clear over the web rather than over a secure path). Internet Explorer is alerting you that non-secure elements in your HTTPS page are about to load.
I'm not advocating this at all, but if you really want to turn this off, there is a setting. This should work for both Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7.
Go to Internet Options
Internet Explorer 6: In the Tools Menu, click Internet Options
Internet Explorer 7: Click Tools on the Command Bar, then Internet Options
Click the Security tab
Ensure Internet is the selected zone
Click the Custom Level button
Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section, and look for "Display mixed content"
Change from Prompt to Enable
Click OK on the two screens
Again, I do not recommend doing this, but that's how. This information is provided "AS IS" without warranty, and confers no rights.

Based on your admonitions, Aaron, I'll live with the warning screens.
Thanks for your advice.
