* i'm on a new computer- and keep getting logged on and off my net connection.
(i'm only offline for a short time, but sometimes this happens over and over- for an hour or more.)
my connection was fine on my older notebook.
- i tried about a dozen "fixes" per the 'puter manufacturer and my ISP (updated drivers, unplugging the modem, changing the wireless channel, etc.) -- and nothing's helped. (i also tried: neutering all of norton, except for virus protection; turned off "real-time" protection temporarily -- still having problems.)

If your updates were only the Microsoft updates issued on Tuesday, August 14, then I would suggest you contact Microsoft Support. Microsoft offers "No-Charge Support" at 1-866-PCSAFETY or 1-866-727-2338. This phone number is for virus and other
security-related support. It is available 24 hours a day for the U.S. and Canada.
However, if there were other software programs also updated, the problem cannot be attributed to Microsoft updates. Have you tried creating a new restore point?
Assuming System Restore has not been cleared, try this to restore your computer to an earlier point:
Start the System Restore tool at a command prompt
1. Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in Safe Mode with a command prompt.
