I can confirm that. When I built my present system , the first thing I did when I had established the internet connection was to download AVG and install. When running AVG after installation, it found two viruses.I estimate the time I was unprotected to 20 mins. And I didn“t go anywhere else than to "Grisoft". I was also behind a Linksys router !!
It could not have been anything left over from an old installation, when the hdd:s, memorys ,etc was new, out of the box.
I once had a victim on a forum who had reinstalled Windows XP, but before she had a chance to install the AV, her boyfriend occupied the PC and started to surf. That computer got so severely infected in 2 hours that she had to redo it all over again. :tease:
