Out of curiousity, how many of you use RSS Readers?
I've thought of it for some time and I'm "on my way", but haven't yet started the "project" up. :mrgreen: :lol:
It would be nice with some hints of "to-do":s or "not-to-do":s from people with more practical experience.
Suggestion:
Why not add a poll to this thread and combine the compulsory Yes and No alternatives with a few of the common Reader solutions?

tried quite a few and found this the best fit with Firefox.

Note: RSS Feeder has a crash issue with Firefox (don't know if it's been fixed yet)
Since my previous posting in this topic I've been trying out the built in functionality for RSS feeds in the Opera browser, and I must say that I'm really satisfied with the solution that the Opera team has come up with.
The most complicated issue around RSS feeds ought to be a rather pleasant one, and in my opinion it seems to be the importance of excluding information so you wont be drowning in it if you've been away from your computer for a couple of days. :lol:

I've noticed that no one yet has had the opportunity to give an answer to your question, and although I'm a complete newbie on this issue I'll give it a try anyway.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for syndicating news.
A special kind of software is needed on the computer, and in my case a fully functional reader comes built in with the Opera webbrowser.
As a user you subscribe on news from webbpages you're interested in and have a possibility to select types of news according to your own interests.
One of the benefits with RSS is that you can cover large parts of the Internet without having to visit a large number of websites.
News are collected in the background at user configurable intervals and warn with a popup in the system tray when there are new messages arrived.
You can click the news headline to see a short description of the news and click or open the original news web page in an Rss reader browser or default browser window.
Many news and web log sites support RSS by adding a pictogram as "XML" or "RSS" (mostly in orange) to their web pages.
If you check out the adresspace when your here on LandzDown you'll notice that the symbol RSS in blue is at the end of the URL field.
With a RSS reader you can klick on the RSS symbol and your system asks you if your intention in this case is to subscribe to LandzDown RSS feeds.
Your RSS feeds are saved under channels (kanaler in Swedish) and thats also the way you can unsubscribe if you should change your mind.

Nyhetsportalen (http://www.nyhetsportalen.se/nyheter_rss.php) is a rather nice Swedish portal that holds more information on this issue and it's also a good starting point for practical testing of this functionality.

Since i do use Opera on an occasional basis that suppliments use of IE, it comes ready-equipped with a very nice RSS reader that i do maintain several URL feeds in.
Blogs are very RSS subscribe ready so is very convenient to stay abreast of the latest posts of interests with them. LoL
