I am finding the options in the reply link a bit daunting. Could I please have some guidance/education for the following:
I can get into bullets, but cannot write anything in normal format underneath bullets (like this) as I cannot option to get out.............sorry if I am asking too much.
I tried to colour "LINK" below in #3 but lost the format again......why
Thanks for any help here.
- Getting out of the bullets option.
- Where is the numbers option?
- Sending a URL inserted within LINK.
- I see Insert Hyperlink fourth from the left, second line above emoticons, but for me it does not work.
dickw,
I have moved this topic to the testing forum that way you can play with the codes I sure that Ripley amd I will help you find your way
As far as getting out of the bullets as long as the code ends with ["/list"] but with out the " you will end it.
have a play here using the TAB's

Hey dickw :)
QuoteI am finding the options in the reply link a bit daunting.
I have had that same experience being new to forums, and mastered most with trial and (lots of) errors
So maybe I can help. I will warn you though, I haven't practiced much w/ the bullets...you are ahead of me on that one.
Two resources to note at LandzDown. The HELP tab at the top and the
Testing forum (http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?board=15.0).
The "options" or buttons used for formatting your posts are basically listed/explained
here (http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref). You get there by clicking the row of tabs at the top of LzD page > HELP > POSTING > Bulletin Board Code.
I manually type my BBCode "tags" for formatting, so I can't quite picture what is not working for you.
Select the word you want to color, click on the area of the colorbar for the color you desire, color BBC "tags" around the word will appear, click on the "Preview" button to see if the color you want is there.
If you desire to have numbered bullets...manually type the numbers? I don't see an option in a "button" for that.
QuoteSending a URL inserted within LINK.
I am guessing at what you are asking, but see if the "code" below helps:
[url=http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?board=15.0] Testing forum [/url]You can preview your post as many times as you'd like to experiment.
Until you master these options for formatting with the "buttons" available at LzD, just plain ole typing is fine.
Let us know how you get on.
Thank you both for your help and advice.
I am having some success. I can get out of bullets successfully, post a URL within LINK, colour any word that I want, but the thing I cannot achieve is texting under the bullets list without that being indented as well.
Oh, and I cannot seem to get a space under the bullets to start the next paragraph. When I have the time I will keep practising and succeed in the end I hope.
dickw.
QuoteI cannot achieve is texting under the bullets list without that being indented as well
- The best way I know is to close the bullets list after each bullet
(Making only one bullet at a time)
- That way you can add text without it being added to the bullet
(Just like this text has been added)
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
I will try your last suggestion:
- Here is the first bullet with text
Now I want to write text under the bullet
- Then I want to do another text without bullets
Then start a new paragraph like this. :gwave: That looks okay to me, tell me what you think please?
dickw,
:mitch: :mitch: looks to me like you got it (https://www.landzdown.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.getsmile.com%2Femoticons%2Ffunny-smileys-68129%2Flaugh.gif&hash=f40b693898e397873ea39216976737b8004e1e2b)(https://www.landzdown.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.getsmile.com%2Femoticons%2Ffunny-smileys-68129%2Fgentleman.gif&hash=d80ac3e108b014262718502fab8674014d7559a4)
Now why not play with the other TAB'
s while your at it :tease:
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
Thank you once again for your post. My only problem now is to get the second line of the numbered text indented. Is that possible?
Here is LINK (http://www.tpg.com.au/index.php?board=15.0) you may find useful
I would like to colour this word blue.
Now I would like to do some bullet options like this:
- Here is # one bullet
- Then # two
- Again #three
Now here is the test to create this line with a space after the bullet option. Golly it worked this time, but I wonder what I did differently to achieve it?
Now for numbers, with the second line in #2 indented.
1. This first one is the easy one.
2. Now if I type two lines I would like the second one to be indented, but as yet have not been able to do that,
so how is it done please?
I did the above indent of the second line by using bullets and then taking them away with a bit of juggling.
dickw,
QuoteMy only problem now is to get the second line of the numbered text indented
by indented you mean centralized
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
SMF (this boards software) doesn't support numbered/alphabetical list tags as phpBB and IPB forum software does.
GR@PH;<'S and Corrine,
Thanks for your help. Yes, I do mean centralized/indented........whatever. (https://www.landzdown.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi130.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp274%2Ftallin2%2Fhappy0180.gif&hash=717ec568f5ad707b62223eea014cb6b1a199591c)
I understand re the board options Corrine. :flowers:
dickw
One other way of learning the different codes for the software is if you see someone doing something you would like to learn, click the "quote" button on the top right of that post. Then you will see it still in code. Just do not hit the post button afterwards or you will be copying the previous user's post ;)
dickw,
[*center]this would mean that I am centralized[/center*]
Note you do I had to use the * or you would not see the code (https://www.landzdown.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.getsmile.com%2Femoticons%2Ffunny-smileys-68129%2Fwink2.gif&hash=7ee22ca8b99787171d00aa91c493a87b833210a5)
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
GR@PH;<'S ,
I am back in school today, :help:
What am I doing wrongly that these two links do not work for me. Where have I gone wrong with the code.....thanks? Still got allot to learn me thinks.
I had to post the full link of each in the Lounge sub-forum.
LION (http://www.flixxy.com/man-vs-lion.htm/index.php?board=15.0)
DACHSHUND (http://www.flixxy.com/dachshund-toy.htm/index.php?board=15.0)
dicw
Type the code you where using, highlight it, then wrap it in code tags by clicking the pound button (#). Then we can see the code you where using and can go from there.
Is this what you mean?
[url=http://www.flixxy.com/dachshund-toy.htm/index.php?board=15.0] DACHSHUND [/url]
[url=http://www.flixxy.com/man-vs-lion.htm/index.php?board=15.0] LION [/url]
Yes, that is what I meant.
The way you have the coding set up looks right but the link itself is different. In the above post here is your link for man vs lion:
http://www.flixxy.com/man-vs-lion.htm/index.php?board=15.0
In the lounge here is the link you used:
http://www.flixxy.com/man-vs-lion.htm
The extra index.php?board=15.0 is what is screwing it up. It is the same thing for the dog video. Try some random links in this thread to see if you can get a handle on it.
Like this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBCode) ;)
Finally, I found the correct code, (guessed it in the end) but in most forums, you have already highlight the url you want to post as one word...ie LINK, then click on insert link already offered in the reply page, a box comes up > paste > okay and it is all done in a minute for you....
It is good to learn new ways of course but time comsuming if you are in a hurry.
thanks for your patience and guidance here.
DACHSHUND (http://www.flixxy.com/dachshund-toy.htm)
LION (http://www.flixxy.com/man-vs-lion.htm)
dickw,
Quotein most forums, you have already highlight the url you want to post as one word
As you get to know the code's you will find it easier to just type them in or even copy & paste saved ones that you have in your notes.
I recommend that you save some of the ones that you are going to use on a regular bases ie: [*URL=http://www.landzdown.com]
"LandzDown"[/URL*] =
"LandzDown" (http://www.landzdown.com).
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
Yes, rest assured I have saved them.
dickw,
Just a little bit of advise just before you post click on the "Preview" to be sure that you make sure any links / images work.
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
GR@PH;<'S,
I always check after clicking 'preview' that my links work. (https://www.landzdown.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi130.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp274%2Ftallin2%2Fsigns-ok.gif&hash=8d7d71ec458fa9846089c731522220dfca57374e) Have I posted any that do not please?.....except the two where I could not get them to work so you could pick up the code when clicking Quote on that particular reply of mine.

Nice to see you are making progress!
@that Dachshund toy link is adorable!
Thank you Ripley,
I have learned a lot here, folk are patient, friendly and will be back asking more questions when I find the need. I would also like to post a couple of jokes, but am wary that they maybe not what is acceptable. I have found with different cultures, what I may think a real hoot, (https://www.landzdown.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi130.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp274%2Ftallin2%2Fclap.gif&hash=26dade2578aa2767d5a7107eb2167390bd2c38f9) others can think inappropriate............. :)
dickw,
QuoteI would also like to post a couple of jokes, but am wary that they maybe not what is acceptable
Good wholesome clean jokes are always good to read :hysterical:
But if you are not sure then may I suggest you pop it (them) in a PM to me and I'll let you know if it (they) are acceptable)

GR@PH;<'S,
What am I doing wrongly that I cannot get the picture attachment to transfer like yours and Numbnuts.
I click on Browse, highlight the saved jpg on my desktop, and only if I click post (does not attach in preview) does it attach to the reply in thumbnail format which is not want I want, I want it to look like yours..... I will say this is the only forum I have any problems with in achieving these most simple of issues.
Do you give private lessons in graphics by any chance. :help:
I will try again with this post to see if I can do any better...........
Tried with a different format and it worked a little better.

I recommend you try upoloading to a hosting site such as
Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/)
GR@PH;<'S :Hammys pint:
Thanks for that, so easy when I can remember how, you prompted me. I have an extensive photobucket folder, so here it is I hope -
