Title: new symantec av bug reported. Dangerous?
Post by: babyoh on December 24, 2005, 01:35:51 AM
anybody know about the new vulnerability being reported in symantec av?

symantect hasn't released a patch for this yet -- and some articles recommend disabling scanning for RAR archive files (this can be exploited to cause a HEAP OVERFLOW).

i use sym av 2004 Professional -- how do i disable RAR SCANNING? is it important for me to do this?

HERE'S A LINK TO AN ARTICLE ON IT:

I believe you will find that this has been discussed here already.  Take a look at the replies, that might help you.  http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?topic=3884.msg15617#msg15617

I think this is the same thing you were referring to.  :)
