I have an HP desktop running Windows 7.0 (64 bit). The malware that I have will not allow me to install or run any program except Firefox 3.6.3. IE and Chrome will open but take me to a site that gets blocked by windows. I have a Vista 32 bit laptop with no cd/rom that I am doing searches from and can download things if I need to do so.
For awhile it would not let me run any software. Then, while I was typing this post on my laptop, the pop-ups on my desktop stopped. Eerie. I had tried to run erunt earlier, and it wouldn't let me. Now it does, but when I run RSIT, I get an AutoIT Error - "Line -1: Error Variable used without being declared" and can't run it. RootRepeal says it does not work with 64 bit systems.
Last night I was unable to run mbam.exe in normal startup mode -- the virus would prevent it. I was able to go into Safe mode last night and run mbam.exe. It found 2 threats and said it removed them, but when I rebooted, the same problem was there, and then I was unable to go back into Safe startup mode.
I can now open mbam.exe, (and any other program for that matter - IE and Chrome won't take me anywhere now) but I have not run it. I don't want to run anything else until I get some more advice and instruction. What should I do next?
Hello and sorry for the delay.
Due to the system being a 64 bit system it limits what can be run on it. While we are looking into getting a helper with more experience on 64 bit systems to help on this log I would like for you to run MBAM.
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Click the Update Tab then click on Check for Updates. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
- Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
- The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
- When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
- The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
