Title: SpyDefense
Post by: JOSEPH on February 02, 2006, 03:46:40 PM
SpyDefense (http://www.everestlabs.com/)

Any opinions good or otherwise with this new entry?

I downloaded and installed it to find that it operates strikingly similar to lavasoft's ad-aware se.

All the "try to unload modules at reboot" and that, quarantine features, and nearly everything mirrors
AAW in many ways with the exception of a very nice Scheduling System they integrated in it. :)
If you examine it closely i believe some of you will conclude the same thing. One aspect i personally found
very attractive and convenient was it displays a slide-up window alert from your clock area. This seems right now to only work on "favorites" url it deems a possible prob for the user. Mind you it does produce some "false positives" for now from what i been able to gather.

Still i was wondering if anyone else has reviewed this at all and have any opinions.

Since it's currently in Beta and not fully been tested at all levels it's certainly not recommended for any user to replace their current trusted anti-spyware solution.

They have a forum here:

QuoteWe will probably keep SpyDefense in beta for another 3-4 months, at which time we'll be able to release a full version.
