There have been a lot of complaints about the Windows 8 Mail app. Although it appears there are still some missing features, there are also welcome updates, particularly to the Mail app, actually bringing it closer to Outlook.com. Some of the changes include:
- a "filter by unread" option
- options that make it easier to create, rename, and delete folders, as well as better tools for flagging messages, viewing all flagged messages, and marking messages as junk mail
- smarter algorithm for suggesting frequent contacts as well as improvements in the message editor to make it easier to add hyperlinks, edit bulleted/numbered lists, and paste in new content
- a new "Work week" view has been added to the Calendar app
- meeting invitations can now be forwarded and email can be sent to all meeting attendees
- more recurrence options for reoccurring meetings or events and set end dates for recurring events available
