Title: Starting programs as administrator with Winpatrol on Windows 8.
Post by: fsieber on May 06, 2013, 09:30:47 PM
On Windows 8 I use winpatrol to start the program "Classic Shell",  provides a desktop start menu.  When I do operations like modifying the start menu, I often get popups saying I need administrator privelege.   I might avoid these if I could start the Classic Shell  program as administrator.  Is there a way to do this using Winpatrol?

Hi, fsieber.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.

WinPatrol does not provide administrator functions to any program.  Even launching WinPatrol Explorer (WinPatrolex.exe) requires Administrator approval.  It takes seconds to approve elevation when you are making changes and much, much longer to repair unauthorized changes.

BTW,  I understand third party start menu products like Classic Shell are exhibiting some problems when they've been applied to what is commonly referred to as "Windows Blue", although those bugs may be fixed by release time.
