I haven't seen Firefly yet as I've just started with "Under the Dome". Firefly is on my list to watch -- in the proper order as listed at Wikipedia: Firefly (TV series) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Firefly_episodes#Broadcast_history)
yup. proper order is good.
but i think "the message" should be last. the composer of the music said he wrote the music for the last scene as he would write a goodby to the show, as everyone knew it was going away.
and watch the movie after the series, it makes absolutely no sense without all the background provided by the series.
