I ran across this article about how computer blue light after sundown can disrupt your sleep:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/14/AR2011021404136.html
And since I have a lot of trouble getting restful sleep, and often am on the computer late into the night, it seems like something that I might like to try.
Wondering if anyone here has any experience with it and can give a review.
Also I can't find it on FileHippo, so I want to know if its safe to download from here:

Use it on my work & home computer and also Lux on my Android phone. (Lux being a 'sort of' port to Android, due to technical limitations a true port to Android isn't possible).
Had no problems here, and certainly makes the screen easier on the eyes.

It is always safer from the vendor site, which is what that is.
Have downloaded from the vendor site, installed and did the set up. I'll report back in a while and let y'all know what I think about it. :)
Thanks for the replies!
Used to, but after new computers and formats and such I've never put it back. Along the same lines, though, I recently started wearing a pair of Gunnars to combat eye fatigue from staring at monitors all day. http://www.gunnars.com/ is their site, but I bought them from Woot! given the prices were much better. So far they're nice but need more time to evaluate.
Well so far, its a little strange. Not sure if I will get used to it, because even at the halogen setting, the everything turns quite pink (especially at the top of the monitor screen) , and when you scroll, there is a red ghost behind the text.
A lot of what I do on the computer at night involves graphic work, so I'm going to be turning it off a lot anyway.
I'll give it a bit more time, but at this point, I'm considering trying the yellow goggles instead for basic surfing.
Hi, pastywhitegurl, I'm a bit late to this party!
I too, use f.lux but I have colour vision issues so I know I can't trust anything when it comes to what I 'think' I see regarding colour!
Your description "especially at the top of the monitor screen" makes me think you might have a monitor with some 'backlight bleed' issues, or similar. If so, this could also have some negative (pun intended) effects when it comes to graphics work. It's something that certain individuals are more likely to see than others, so I'm led to believe. Perhaps checking out the screen with a plain black Desktop during daylight hours might help detect any significant variation, as would having a friend/colleague or two look at it as a cross check - but don't tell them in advance what might be wrong or what to look for.
