Title: Problem getting on e-mail
Post by: mary3444 on February 07, 2014, 11:46:41 PM
Today when I went on the computer I tried to go to my e-mail account. The account is mozilla firefox. I get this little box that says  thunderbird.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I sent the error report but I don't know how to fix this. I need help

Thanks

Hi, Mary.

I don't use Thunderbird but found this Standard diagnostic - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Thunderbird).  Note that the article includes linked instructions that will be helpful if you don't know how to perform some of the steps (e.g., back up your profile.).

Corrine,
Once again you have helped me with this computer. For now I am able to get on my e-mails.

What happened is I was told I had a avast update, at the end of the update when I hit finish it started to download google chrome which I do not want. There was no way to close that out so I just shut off the computer. After that is when I could not get on the e-mails.

Hope everything is good with you & your husband. Thanks so much for the help

Hi, Mary.

You are very welcome.  Both hubby and I are doing fine, thank you.

I'm so glad I was able to help.  It really makes me angry when security programs include pre-checked options with updates.  I understand that they're using the "pay-per-install" to help support the free versions, but they could make it easier to see the pre-checked options.
