Hello Corrine, hello Landzdown forum!
A friend of mine has a real problem with her new laptop (Windows 8). Actually, her brother bought it for her last September, but she didn't use it at all since then. The problem is that she forgot the login password. The account uses an email to login. Because she forgot the password of her Microsoft account, we followed the reset procedure and changed it. But again, we cannot login to the computer, because we can not have internet access. Every key I am trying to use, is leading to the login page. Is there anything we can do???
Hi, Panos.
With the password reset, can your friend log on to the email account associated with her Microsoft account from your or another friend's computer?
See the troubleshooting section at the top of this Microsoft help page: Forgotten password and other sign-in problems - Reset Password (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/account-reset-password-forgot-faq).
Yes, Corrine. Now she can log on to the email account. But we cannot login to her computer with the new password, because internet connection is needed. I think.
Hi, Panos.
Ok, to start, does she have an Internet connection? If so, shutdown/restart the computer and see if she can log on then. If she does NOT have an Internet connection, create a local account, as shown here: Create a user account - Microsoft Windows Help (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-8)
Hi, Corrine!
I have reacted like a ... computer novice! :sos:
Yes, I couldn't connect to my wifi before login, but I completely forgot that internet connection can be established via cable! So now everything is ok!!! Thank you, once again! :rose:
P.S. Windows 8 is not so bad as I hear from many friends. I worked a little on it and now ... I want a new computer!!!
Sometimes it is necessary to step back and take a fresh look because the answer is right in front of us. Been there/done that! :D
