Title: Disappearing Car Door
Post by: Basil on March 13, 2014, 03:44:24 PM
Surprising this has not been introduced years ago despite the cost and safety factors involved !

This is waaaay toooo coool !!!

This is certainly great for anyone who has difficulty getting in and out of a car. Designed and developed in England, someone had a very bright idea. Wonder how long it will take to get this on the market in Japan and the U.S. ?

The reason you see two Lincoln Mark VIII 's is because Lincoln had commissioned Jatech to develop the door conversions for actual production and therefore bankrolled the whole endeavour.

Basil,
Your not on your own I would love one as it would make it very easy for me to not only get in easier but it would be easier to get my chair in & out.

I could have used that when the kids were little and when we had a dog with arthritis.  It was hard getting him into the car for a trip to the vets.

Looks cool. Would this lessen strength during side impact? I'd think having a frame there would help absorb some of that energy.
