Title: Useful Browser Add-ons
Post by: Corrine on September 03, 2014, 12:07:33 AM
Let's share information about helpful add-ons we use -- no, not privacy, ad-blocking, security extensions.  Rather, share information about add-ons you've found useful, perhaps even indispensable for your purposes.  I'll start with a couple.

Lazarus: Form Recovery (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lazarus-form-recovery/?src=ss) -- Have you ever run into a sudden crash, forum glitch or some other event that resulted in losing your post or comment?  Lazarus to the rescue!  Just return to forum/website where the loss occurred, right-click and select "recover text".

Here's a new one, fresh out of the box:  Norwell (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/norwell/) would have saved me a lot of time not long ago when I was trying to locate the URL of a site I had visited within the previous few days.  There is a search box, columns can be sorted by column headings or click on the View drop-down and select the sort option you need.

Norwell can be downloaded from the link above or the .xpi can be downloaded from http://www.freedomlist.com/files/norvel (at) history.xpi (http://www.freedomlist.com/files/norvel%20(at)%20history.xpi) (replace the spaces and (at) with the @ symbol).  To install the .xpi, open the folder where you downloaded the .xpi file and drag it to a Firefox/PaleMoon window to get the permission to install prompt.

Regarding Norwell, addons.mozilla.org is slow updating.  The version there does not work properly.  The most recent version is 1.6, available at http://www.freedomlist.com/files/norvel@history.xpi.  If the previous version is installed, uninstall, restart and install the latest by dragging the downloaded copy to Firefox/Pale Moon.

Flash and Video Download. It can download videos not only from Youtube, but from any site. I think that it is the only one that it can download flash videos embedded in a website. No more video download programs with conduit and other malware.  (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/download-flash-and-video/?src=api )

Youtube MP3 Downloader using youtube-mp3.org. I searched a lot and for me is very good. You click somewhere in the youtube page and download a video as mp3. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-hq-mp3-downloader/?src=api )
