Need a scratch pad? A quick place to copy/paste text, images, etc? Its easy. Just open a new tab, paste the following in the address bar: data:text/html, <html contenteditable> and press Enter.
Voila! You can save the file as an HTML page or bookmark it for quick access. This works in Firefox, Pale Moon, Opera and Chrome (not IE).

That's a cool trick. Thanks, Corrine.
On my Mac it worked in both Firefox and Safari.
I also learned from someone else that you can also create a new bookmark. Set the location to data:text/html,%20<html%20contenteditable> and save it to your toolbar menu for quick access.
