Title: Microsoft: Did They Just Destroy the PC Biz for HP, Dell, etc?
Post by: ky331 on October 06, 2015, 05:24:19 PM
“The whole segment of laptops from $500 up to $1,500 now belongs to Microsoft and Apple,’ said Rich Doherty of Envisioneering...

Doherty was responding to the unveiling of “Surface Book,” a machine starting at $1,499 that turns from laptop into a tablet.

“There’s a lot of engineering behind it and a lot of money,” observed Doherty. Combined with the updated “Surface Pro 4″ tablet, Microsoft, and Apple‘s MacBook line, will dominate the “high-end laptop,” and, indeed, much of what is in that mainstream of laptops from $500 to $1,000...

There my be little left for Hewlett-Packard and others, he said â€" just the scraps.

Now, “What’s going to be left for HP and others? Selling $300 models, maybe.”
