I'm a new member here, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if WinPatrol has a Linux version.
Hi, lightfootfan. Welcome to LzD!
No, WinPatrol doesn't have a Linux version. "WinPatrol" basically stands for Windows Patrol -- it is a multi-purpose utility designed to increase performance and protect against unwanted changes to your Windows Computer.
Thanks! I'm a WinPatrol Plus member for my Windows partition, but I use Linux almost exclusively now. (I'm still working on sending a print command to my printer.)
I'd always been happy with WinPatrol, but guess it's really not needed in Linux yet.
Linux isn't exempt from malware but it most certainly isn't the target that Windows is.
Although off topic to WinPatrol, which Linux distro are you using? Ghost is a long-time Linux user and may be able to assist.
Using Linux 'Mint' and I don't want to add too much to the startup- That's what I liked about WinPatrol.
Hi lightfootfan,
I use Mint 17.3 Mate now and all i do is shutdown, plug in the printer, turn it on and boot up Mint. You wont get all the tools that come with the dvd but i have all i use (i use Simple Scan).
If you go to menu and click on all apps (top right) then scroll down to Startup Apps you can turn off/on what you want Just be very careful what you turn off. You may not be able to boot up;-(.
My bootup time is less than 10 seconds (cold boot) and shutdown is less than 5 seconds with all but 2 items i unchecked starting up with bootup.

Thank you Ghost! My Mint is 17.2. Will try that. As this is off topic, will ask in another thread if I have problems.
Correction!
i just click file and then it prints.
Simple Scan is what i use for my old scanner.
Sorry.
