Title: Can't run frst
Post by: Doxiemrs on January 06, 2016, 02:38:46 AM
Hi. I can only check email on firefox. The IE won't work and the firefox either says connection reset or asks how I want to open: save or use IE. The only thing I've done to my laptop so far is run a quick scan with avast and a boot scan two do I emailed the two scans and downloaded. I clicked on run add administrator and the Windows alert comes up and says I may not have authorization to run but I am the administrator. Then it completely deletes the program. Can you help?

I also meant to report that I emailed myself the two programs from my phone and then downloaded then on desktop, since my computer won't go to any website except google and Gmail.

Hi, Doxiemrs.

It is difficult to provide a solution blindly without knowing what settings have been changed and by what program.

1.  Since you can open your email, if you are subscribed to this topic, you should get a copy of my reply in your email.  If not, try to copy/paste the lines below from your phone to an email sent to yourself.

Please copy/paste the lines in bold below to Notepad:

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop.
Double-click flush.bat file to run it. Your computer will reboot.

Note:  Right-click flush.bat and select "Run as Administrator".

2.  Do you have Malwarebytes installed?  If so, try to update it following the steps below:

To retrieve the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan log information (Method 1)
To retrieve the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 scan log information (Method 2)
Logs are named by the date of scan in the following format: mbam-log-yyyy-mm-dd and automatically saved to the following locations:
-- XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-yyyy-mm-dd
-- Vista, Windows 7/8: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-yyyy-mm-dd
