Title: Pale Moon Version 26.2.0 Released With Security Updates
Post by: Corrine on April 05, 2016, 02:17:02 PM
Pale Moon has been updated to version 26.2.0.  The update is a major  update including security and bug fixes.  Linux versions will follow when  the Linux maintainer publishes those builds.

The updates are described in the Release Notes (http://www.palemoon.org/releasenotes.shtml).

Thanks.

A question: every hear about Palemoon crashing with noscript?
I haven't experienced it but someone at another forum said she has so went back to using Firefox.

Lengthy discussion about it on the Pale Moon Forum here:  Doesn't look like NoScript will work anymore (http://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11611&hilit=NoScript).

Better check out this article Frands posted in Web NEws:  NoScript and other popular Firefox add-ons open millions to new attack (http://www.landzdown.com/web-news/noscript-and-other-popular-firefox-add-ons-open-millions-to-new-attack/msg179212/#new)

uBlock Origin is a replacement for AdBlockPlus not noscript.

I use both on Palemoon and haven't had a crash.

Yes, I did see the article about noscript. <sigh> Every day a few more exploits.

Thanks for the thread about noscript. Since I don't have problems with Palemoon and it is running on 4 Win 7 computers that are used almost daily, I rarely go to the forum to see about problems.

Example here using 3rd party iframes: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-quick-guide

Also for network requests: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Behind-the-scene-network-requests

Though it's probably not as granular as NoScript, it can cover most options quite well.

Sorry but that would be above my husband's ability and I don't want to be called for every website he visits on two different computers trying to set each site up correctly for him. I'd be spending all my time looking over his shoulder.
We also do not use uBlock; we are using uBlockOrigin and AdBlockLatitude. I don't see anything that the github links show.

I'll take my chances with noscript. That he can handle.

In fact, at one point he was getting popups, just on one computer and I couldn't figure out why. Eventually I discovered that for a few sites he was allowing ALL and permanent!!! Once I figured that out, I again showed him the proper method to use noscript and stay safe.

Since i can't edit my post above, I'm disabling uBlockOrigin, Latitude has been disabled for awhile and downloading uBlock. I'll see if I can figure it out.

Since noscript doesn't appear to be supported in Palemoon and is a security risk in Firefox, my options are dwidling.

I also downloaded Vivaldi earlier and I'll see if I can figure that out.

I'm am getting too old to want to learn something new every couple of months simply because something either no longer works or is now a security risk.   :'(

Sorry for 3 posts in a row. It seems I discover things too late to modify my previous post.

Even though the site says uBlock, it refers to uBlock Origin instead. That is confusing.

so what do I have to do to ever see the right hand screen?

All I can ever see is the dashboard and I've done some tweaking there from time to time.
When I click the tools in addons and select Customize, I don't have any Advanced options.

I access it with a single click on the uBlockO icon, you may need to go into customise mode to add it to a visible PM toolbar.

I had been using uBlock on Pale Moon (it seems to use less resources than Adblock Latitude), not realizing that it is no longer being supported:  https://github.com/chrisaljoudi/uBlock/wiki

QuoteThis version of uBlock is no longer under development.

Consider using uBlock Origin or another adblocker.

I have 2 computers running uBlockOrigin on two browsers, Palemoon and Firefox. So I have 4 opportunities to try and get that Advanced menu. It straight out doesn't work for me.

Perhaps if you had uBlock installed before you switched to uBlockOrigin you  get additional customization. I can't.

I even found a blurb which says click on requests blocked or domains connected to get the advanced menu. I can't click on either trying all 4 instances.

I can't even take a screenshot to show you my uBlock Origin looks exactly like the same as your small section because if I move from uBO to print screen, the uBO screen closes.
I'm getting frustrated.

I finally figured out what I had to do.
1. I disabled the theme I was using.
2. I went to addons and clicked on the change this addons options.
3. I clicked on Show Dashboard
4. This was the missing step that no one mentioned! On the Settings tab in the Dashboard, you need to click I am an Advanced User.

It's easy once you know exactly what needs to be checked/ticked.
