Title: W-10 almost stopped working.
Post by: johnson55 on August 16, 2016, 04:38:14 PM
I got w-10 abot a week ago and all of a sudden it takes 5 minutes to get a site, sometimes
it won't get it at all.I can't very well restore in 10 because I don't have a suitable one yet.
Would I be better off to go back to W-7? I sort of like W-10 but my computer is so slow I can't use it.
I use spybot and megabytes and Ccleaner so my temp fplders are gone.I cleanes up the desktop pretty good.
I sure need some advice.

Megabytes? Did you mean Malwarebytes Antimalware (MBAM)?

I would uninstall SpyBot. You don't need it and it has a history of bogging some systems down. W10 comes with an able anti-malware solution with Windows Defender. That, supplemented with MBAM is all most users need - along with keeping Windows updated.

W7 is already 7 years old. Best to stick with W10 for security reasons alone. Many of these type problems seem to sort themselves out too.

The questions remain the same ...

If you got Windows 10 "about a week ago", that was past the July 29th 'free' deadline. Perhaps your timeline is off?  That factoid might be important.  Did you download the Anniversary Edition?

You might wish to look at the Recovery Options here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options

There are only 10 days to roll back the Anniversary Update, but 30 days to roll back the upgrade to Win10.

See Winchester73's link to the Recovery Options.  Since you said you didn't have a good restore point, you might want to try "Reset my PC" using the "Keep my files" option.

Important Note:  If you reset your PC within a month of your upgrade to Windows 10, or 10 days after updating to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the option in Settings that lets you go back to your previous version of Windows will no longer be available.

Like your Android thread, it's going to be hard to help you unless your posts are in complete sentences and free of typos.

" ... instead of keeping I got read of all my files."

What do you mean by you got rid of your files?  What files?  Documents, pictures, music?

" ... I'm trying to post from the reply here.I'll see if it posts now"

Did it work?  Is that post the reply you were trying to post?

What's the status of your computer now?  You originally said the computer was slow, and you had trouble accessing websites.  Did the reset clear that up?

Ummm, you are posting or your responses wouldn't be showing and you wouldn't be getting answers.  As to using the Quick-Reply box, personally, that is my preference.

Repeating the reset operation after you already did it once doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

You still haven't answered Winchester73's question regarding which browser you are using.  Plus, other than not being about to make the "Reply" button work, what other issues are you having with the PC?

YOU ARE POSTING!!! and merely because you cannot use the reply button does not mean that there is something wrong with your computer.  It could be the browser you are using.

How can we be seeing posts and answering them if that were the case?   :o

You must mean something else by that statement.  You can't see what you post?  You aren't able to post what you are trying to post?

You are simply going to have to provide fuller descriptions if we are going to be able to help you.

Thanks for your time on this,I really appreciate it.
1st problem I can't post reply on your site and other sited to.I can put a few words in the
quick area and that's all.If I put to many it won't work there either. My computer is slower than
it's ever been. I done that reset Corrine mentioned twice and that didn't help.I tried that Frst64
and I downloaded to 20 percent and computer stopped downloading.Sometimes the computer just stops
and I have to reboot to do anything.I think whatever is keeping me from replying is my problem.
But I have no idea what it is.Hope this explains some of this. Also do you think if I went back to W-7
this all would go away?

No, but let's continue to investigate ...

I take it you weren't having any of these issues before you changed from Win 7 to Win 10?  In other words, all of these issues started after July 29th?  If so, did they start immediately, two weeks ago, last week, when exactly?

Since you aren't giving us anything to work with, as I see it, unless you have a backup, your best option is to "Use installation media to reinstall Windows 10".  The instructions are here:  Recovery options in Windows 10 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options).  You will most likely need to download the media creation tool, run it and "Select Create installation media for another PC" from a working computer.

johnson55,

No one at Landzdown will be able to help you unless you supply information that will help them help you.  Both winchester73 and Corrine have repeatedly asked you for specific information.  But all that you are doing now is repeating useless data.

If you really wish to be assisted, re-read what they have asked you for and try to supply that, and/or come up with other possible means of communication if the forum mechanisms are not working for you.

Title: The computer don't post to sites
Post by: johnson55 on August 30, 2016, 04:00:59 PM
If this post works what I just did was what was wrong with my computer.
I upluged my modem and unpluged my router. Then I went to my hotmail.com that wasn't working
and mow is.Maybe this explains all the pain I had. Thanks again for all your time.

That makes no sense at all. Hotmail not working doesn't have a thing to do with not being able to post in this, or any other forum. It also has nothing to do with a computer not working.
Lots of people post in forums who may or may not have hotmail email accounts.

Actually it all makes sense, he never said his computer was slow. He said in his very first post: "all of a sudden it takes 5 minutes to get a site, sometimes it won't get it at all."

While he was attempting to communicate with a very limited connection, that wasn't working properly.
I can't post because he couldn't connect. I can only do a quick reply on occasions. I can't download. I can't upload files. I can't read my email.

These were all keys that it was a connection problem. We all missed it.

If you are unable to communicate, because of a limp mode internet connection, that creates a problem.

I take this as good learning lesson.
