Pale Moon has been updated to Version 27.0.0. This is a major release.
As explained in the Release Notes (http://www.palemoon.org/releasenotes.shtml#), Version 27 is a full upgrade of the back-end platform. This means that many things work different "under the hood". As a result, you may run into a number of extension compatibility issues and may wish to run the v27 Compatibility Checking Tool (https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13436). Also note the "Removed/support features" in the Release Notes, which includes the removal of support for Windows XP.
Security highlights from the Release Notes:
All relevant security fixes up to and including Firefox 50 have been ported across from Mozilla to continue to provide an as secure as possible browser.
Several libraries have been updated to their latest versions to pick up any important vulnerability fixes.
There's a new option and control to determine whether to save zone information (marking files as "downloaded from the Internet") on downloaded files (Windows+NTFS). You can find this in Options.
I updated my Pale Moon. Now, the default option is Gecko compatibility. If I let it so, the Google page interface is the old one. E.g., I tried to search for an image. I chose one, and instead of having it larger, to save it, I was sent to the image's site. If I choose Firefox compatibility, the page is OK, and everything back to ''normal''.
I tried the new version 27 and I uninstalled it. Several of my extensions are incompatible and, alas, there re no good alternatives. How sad. I have to say that after using it, I will be stick to the 26.5, in spite of all the "improvements"of the version 27.
I've used Pale moon since 2013, liked its speed, etc. but this is one time I have to draw the line. Unless Moonchild and company can make several more addons compatible, I'll have to use the older version and alternatives. And believe me, I've checked hard for addon alternatives >:( :( :o ::) :'(

Have you tried to change the default option (Gecko compatibility) to Firefox compatibility, as I did (see above)?
P.S. Every time I get into this thread, Malware warns me about a malicious site. Please, see attachment.
I get the malicious site warning too, just from viewing this thread!
Someowhere there is a hidden link to freedomlist which is causing this.
Since 2 of the computers in the house are having problems, I'm holding off on updating Palemoon. The fewer changes I make, the better chance of trying to figure out what is wrong.
In fact, I restored one computer to an image I made on Nov. 7th.
The add-ons situation is pretty complex, it's mostly down to the add-ons devs to decide whether or not to support Pale Moon, although there are some add-ons that are allowed to be modified/forked, some of those are already being worked on.
During the latter part of the Public Beta period there was a checking tool made available so you could find out in advance which of your add-ons were Jetpack/SDK and incompatible: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13436&p=95277
Doing a search on the PM forum for the add-ons you need might throw up some that are already being worked on, or confirmation of some that can't be forked. Once you have a rough idea of what you need that's missing, ask in the Extensions area, they'll let you know what's possible and what isn't and whether they know of similar extensions/older versions that still work, or are being worked on.
Dr M, I had the same issue and used the same workaround, also had to turn off Media Source Extensions to access Youtube HTML5, though later I changed general.useragent.override.youtube.com to Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:45.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.9 (Pale Moon) and I can turn MSE back on and get up to 4k (but that's way too much for my rubbish fibre/aluminium connection).
So, should you get other problems, and unfortunately it's likely you will, do a forum search restricted to the previous week for similar problems/sites and you could find workarounds for them.
@ plodr: what are you getting a malicious site warning from? Which browser?
Ah, I see DR M sneaked in a post while I was link-checking.
There's a gif avatar from Freedomlist: 6506906774ea9834a52fdf.gif being called, I think it's from darksurfers post but it's a dead link = no avatar and a 404 from the source link. QED, as the Romans would have said (probably stole that from the Greeks as well, eh, DR M?).

He he! :)
This is what I found from Wikipedia (I didn't know the latin phrase's meaning, so I ... googled it!):
The phrase quod erat demonstrandum is a translation into Latin from the Greek á½...Ï€ÎµÏ á¼"δει δεῖξαι (hoper edei deixai; abbreviated as ΟΕÎ"). Translating from the Latin into English yields, "what was to be demonstrated"; however, translating the Greek phrase á½...Ï€ÎµÏ á¼"δει δεῖξαι produces a slightly different meaning. Since the verb "δείκνÏ...μι" also means to show or to prove, a better translation from the Greek would read, "The very thing it was required to have shown, or proved.'' The phrase was used by many early Greek mathematicians, including Euclid and Archimedes.
I've edited darksurfer's profile to remove the dead link to FL. The domain has been sold to a Chinese company of questionable reputation and, as a result, Malwarebytes added the URL for FL to its "Malicious Website Protection" database. I had to do the same thing with my rose avatar since it also was hosted at FL.
darksurfer, which extensions aren't compatible? Perhaps we can suggest alternatives for your to try.
Hi :)
Off course I had to update me Pale Moon last night- I always do that when it's possible! I really do like the Pale Moon Browser because it's normally working nice and dandy. But, but, the first thing that happened when I downloaded the new version, was that my antivirus software was screaming out loud, and turned into red and blocked the Pale Moon file. I unblocked it again and the installation ran ok. The next thing that happened was that Pale Moon disabled me language pack -no problem with me if Pale Moon speaks english, german, swedish or hollandse- I know that it takes a while with translating-so ok with that. Then I made the setup (with a h... of a noise from some railroad work in the background, nearby me >:( ) and downloaded the add-ons I make use of- everything working great as usual. Then I made the Google browser to my startpage as usual and it had got a new look- hmmm. Then I checked out some of our news sites I know always are working and shows up perfectly...but this time they did not :o Instead there was alot of broken links and animations that didn't work and the sites looked like something that was taken up from the deepest point on the Atlantic Ocean! No photos but grey fields instead. Then I made a workaround and sat Pale Moon back to factory settings- nothing new happened. Then I removed Adobe Flash & Shockwave Player and installed it again and even latest Java update ( I'm usually not making use of Java because it's not necessary nowadays)- no changes at all and the same showups. So at 4 o'clock in the morning and 4 hours, 10 cigs and 1 gallon of strong black coffee from start, I gave up and reinstalled the older version of Pale Moon, and now everything works nice and dandy as it usually do! But I would like to hear if someone else have had some of the same problems with the new Pale Moon? Thank you in advance! :)
Frands, others are having similar problems, many of them I, or several of the other volunteers on the Pale moon forum, can offer fixes or workarounds for within a few minutes of testing the affected sites. Google's an easy fix, see DR M's earlier post #2. I think the language packs need to be uninstalled from Pale Moon's safe mode.
Corrine, thanks for the fast link removal :rose
DR M, you could perhaps put a skit together based on "What have the Romans ever done for us?", from the film whence my avatar was taken?
I don't see where changing the Gecko part would affect the addons and, two, I have checked for other similar extension and they are not available, or are not as good. So, I will stick to 26.5 because all the extensions work fine with this one exception-- Adblock Latitude, but I don't need that because I can use Adguard which is very good.
I like Pale Moon but I'm going jump through hoops, doing without my precious addons because of this major change. Easy come, easy go.
Oh, I got another avatar which I hope doesn't shape up the forum with malware. :-[
Just one of those old Freedomlist leftovers I guess.
Corrine, I havee quite a few incompatibles, so it is not much help to try to track down alternatives because I have already tried and they are just ot the same--or even close. I'll jst wait to see if further ""improvements are made to the version 27 dwn the road. :( :o
At least the avatar situation got squared away. As to changing the Gecko part, yes, I had to switch to Firefox compatibility under Options > Advanced > General > Compatibility when running the beta.

I changed from the Gecko compatibility to the Firefox compatibility last night but it had no effect. Also I removed the language-pack and all other add-ons from via Pale Moon's safe mode and visse vasse.
After I wrote my first post, I desided to update Pale Moon to version 27' again. This time a clean installation. My antivirus software still don't like the installation file because it can't recognize it for some reason, I just have to allow the installation- no problems after installation today. Also today I changed to the Firefox compatibility, and today it worked fine. And to my big surprise everything looks fine again and everything is working great and fast as it usually do :o :) . I'm wondering why things went wrong last night :o Well, things are working fine again and thanks to the Pale Moon-gang for a great browser! :)
Just posted by Moonchild: Some known issues when upgrading to Pale Moon 27 (https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=13804).

Sorry, I didn't get the meaning. What do you mean, Satrow?
Monty Python's film, Life of Brian.
For Dr M, here is the Youtube section from the film "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

Pale Moon Version 27.0.1 is a bugfix release for some of the issues that popped up with the new milestone.

Too bad they couldn't fix all the now inoperable addons that can no longer be used. :( >:( ??? ::)
This will be another Pale moon I will not and cannot use. I am still with 26.5.
Who is thinking about Firefox again, besides me? :'(
I have FF as a backup. I have to fire it up daily because v 26 of PM doesn't show the inbox of my gmx mail and since I get at least 1 newsletter a day to that address, I want to read it.
FF loads extremely slow compared to PM. That's why I won't be switching back to FF.
Before you change, try it and compare. I had both browsers load my start page and timed them some months back. FF is definitely slower than PM.
plodr, do you have Pale Moon Options > Advanced set to Firefox Compatibility? That could make the difference in seeing your gmx inbox.
Corrine, we have a 7 page thread going at the Palemoon forum outlining everything people have tried to get v 26 to see GMX. Nothing works. (GMX changed something because one day it worked, then it didn't. Even with PM 27, I get I must use a newer browser or get "limited" function).
https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12518
I went into about config and started comparing Palemoon and FF. I can't find a difference.
You'd think if PM was set to FF compatibility and FF can see the inbox messages, PM could see them too. Nope.
The only problem I've noticed with GMX and PM 27 is that I have to send using plain text (something I do anyway). Test with a PM 27 Portable, if that works, it's likely *something* in your PM 26 Profile that was carried over that was causing the problems.
I'm not running PM v 27 installed. I am using a portable version.
Nothing in my profile is "carried over" to the portable version.
I'm using the default theme and 3 addons: cookie culler, noscript and uBlockOrigin. I could disable the 3 addons and test to see if one of those is causing the problem. Truthfully, I prefer to keep the 3 addons and dump my gmx email account for something that works in my browser.
I get the "Your browser is not supported". Windows 7 64 bit Home premium.
I'm now testing a few other portable browsers: Opera, Iron browser and Cyberfox. I'm trying to find one that lets me get to all my email sites.
Since I can't edit the previous post, I'll add what I've discovered. It is noscript causing the issue.
I've been tweaking things until I finally got the inbox to show and not just a blank page. (Now to see if I can figure this out on the other computers!)
Palemoon 27.0.1 loads and works slowly on my old computer and Linux.
Had to go back to 26.5.0. Will have to wait until they iron out the Bugs.

There's an active Pale Moon for Linux section (https://forum.palemoon.org/viewforum.php?f=37) on the PM forum, you'd get more specific help there.
Thanks for the Link to the Linux forum.
Yes it appears to have been ad blocker ABL . I am using Ublock Origin now and things are back to normal.
Excellent news, a simple switch of extension certainly beats troubleshooting for days 8)
