Title: Re: MVPS Hosts
Post by: ChuckRJr on February 08, 2017, 08:45:37 PM
I have installed HostsMan. I selected MVPS Hosts and HP Hosts(Ad and tracking servers only).
HP Hosts downloads as 127.0.0.0. I changed to 0.0.0.0 and checked for duplicates. I now have a file of 57,801 names. Over the last 2 weeks some IP accesses have slowed to a crawl.
Could there be a relationship between the Host file and them? Should I leave the HP Hosts alone when they are updated?  Should I ONLY download MVPS Hosts?
I run Windows 7 Professional 64bit on an Intel 930.

Hi, Chuck.

If you feel your internet access has slowed becuse your hosts file has become larger, you can disable the DNS caching service (can be done using HostsMan > Tools > DNS Client Service), or try using HostsOptimizer (http://forum.abelhadigital.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4).

I'm 59 hostnames shy of 600,000 and disabling the DNS Service works fine for me.
