I am confused when I hear the word ;"Service" used
with these agencies:
Internal Revenue 'Service'
U.S. Postal 'Service'
Cable TV 'Service'
Civil 'Service'
State, City, County & Public 'Service'
Customer 'Service'
This is not what I thought 'Service' meant.
But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them
said he had hired a bull to 'Service' a few cows.
BAM!!! Then it all came into focus. Now I understand what all
those agencies are doing.
:D
^^
Lol! ;D ;D

I forget the exact timing, but sometime in the late '80s/early '90s, New Jersey changed the name of the bureaucracy that issues driver's licenses and vehicle registrations to "Motor Vehicle Services"... Once when they made a mistake on my boat registration, I phoned them and suggested I needed some "service". The response was laughter.
Eventually they decided to face reality and changed it back. It's had three names since then but none of them included any reference to "service".
