As many of LzD members know, I stopped using Firefox when Mozilla started with the "rapid release program". However, from Endangered Firefox: The state of Mozilla (https://www.zdnet.com/article/endangered-firefox-the-state-of-mozilla/?fbclid=IwAR0obhnRBOwCLvdVEukxHkkKoGzcAjIE8oaltYK6tTqxjtYn7R66W4YPbaw), it appears that Mozilla has more problems than the loss of users. They will even be moving out of thes Mountain View, CA office when its lease ends in January.

Thanks for the link. I knew the numbers were shrinking, I just didn't realize how small a piece of the browser share they actually were. And some of the 3.4% might actually be Palemoon, Waterfox and MyPal users whose browsers are identified as Firefox.
I use Firefox on my android devices. I prefer to avoid Chrome. Google already knows too much about me.
Shades of the demise of Netscape Navigator which was "the" browser to use when I first went on the internet. (From almost 80% to near zero in 10 years)

I saw that particular article too yesterday. The author has been writing a series of articles on the decline of Firefox, this one is the latest. It is very sad.
Like plodr I have avoided Chrome per se like the plague, and for the same reasons and more; yet several of the browsers that I use are based on the Google-supported Chromium. And like plodr said perhaps a lot of that Firefox share of the market includes Palemoon, Waterfox, MyPal, Slim, SeaMonkey (all of which I use), and others. Palemoon and MyPal might survive a Firefox collapse but the others would probably disappear.
Just where are things headed?

I have Vivaldi installed on my desktop computer; it is based on Chromium. It also uses html5 and not flash.
I like the fact that when I close all tabs, I get a choice of 3 things: Speed Dial, Bookmarks and History. I click History, then the paintbrush and choose to wipe everything out for a certain time period. I feel like I have control over the browser and not the other way around.
Yes, I am beginning to like Vivaldi more than the other Chromium browsers. It is supported by part of the old Presto Opera crew. I still like new Opera and Srware Iron, but like plodr said Vivaldi seems to want to specialize in giving users more control and options (although sometimes having so many options can be bewildering!). MS Edge works okay too but at times it begins to feel invasive, like Microsoft is trying to push it or to sell me something, or by adding itself as a default program after updates, etc.
Netscape may be gone, but I guess the browser wars continue, even if the situation may eventually dwindle down to just different versions of Chromium!
