Title: Microsoft Edge Now Has More Users than Firefox!
Post by: Corrine on April 05, 2021, 08:19:53 PM
Although the percentage is small, there are now more users of Microsoft Edge than Firefox.  From New Microsoft Edge grew 1,300% this year, overtaking Firefox (https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/new-microsoft-edge-grew-1-300-percent-this-year-overtaking-firefox/):
QuoteThe new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser has grown by over 1,300% in the past 12 months, while the Firefox browser is slowly losing its market share.

In January 2020, Microsoft released the first stable version (https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsofts-new-edge-browser-released-what-you-need-to-know/) of the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser and announced that they would slowly release it to Windows 10 users. Unless users created special Windows Registry values (https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/how-to-block-windows-10-update-force-installing-the-new-edge-browser/), the new Edge would replace Microsoft Edge Legacy when installed.

As the new Microsoft Edge uses the same engine as Google Chrome, the browser quickly grew in popularity as it provides excellent performance, features. and can use all of Chrome's existing extensions.

Depends where the data comes from. This showing shares worldwide from March 2021 shows them close but FF slightly ahead

Either way, both browsers will have to get a larger share to overtake Chrome.

Note: I don't use FF, Edge or Chrome on Windows computers.
