Post by: Corrine on July 28, 2022, 05:19:30 PM
Releasing Windows 10, version 22H2 to the Release Preview Channel (https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2022/07/28/releasing-windows-10-version-22h2-to-the-release-preview-channel/)
QuoteToday we are releasing the first preview build of Windows 10, version 22H2. Windows 10 Build 19045.1865 (KB5015878) is now available in the Release Preview Channel for Windows Insider Program for Business (https://insider.windows.com/for-business/) participants to validate on devices in their organizations.
This build is also available to any Windows Insider in the Release Preview Channel via the "seeker" experience in Windows Update. This means Insiders currently in the Release Preview Channel can go to Settings > Windows Update and choose to download and install Windows 10, version 22H2. Once an Insider updates their PC to Windows 10, version 22H2, they will continue to automatically receive new servicing updates through Windows Update (the typical monthly update process).

Releasing Windows 10 Build 19045.3754 to Release Preview Channel (https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2023/11/16/releasing-windows-10-build-19045-3754-to-release-preview-channel/)

This Build is for Insiders who are on Windows 10, version 22H2.

After installing today's November 2023 non-security preview update (KB5032278), Windows Insiders in Release Preview with eligible devices3 running Windows 10, version 22H2 who are interested in experiencing Copilot in Windows as soon as possible when we begin rolling it out in the near future, can choose to do so by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and turning on "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2249590)" and Check for updates 4,5. This will be a phased launch via controlled feature rollout (CFR) over the coming months.

Windows 10 Pro edition devices on version 22H2 that are managed by organizations will not be included in the initial rollout of Copilot in Windows. Windows 10 Enterprise and Education edition devices on version 22H2 will also not be included in the initial rollout of Copilot in Windows.

When we begin rolling Copilot in Windows (in preview) for devices running Windows 10, version 22H2 Home and Pro editions, we will publish a follow-up blog post to this one.

Today's November 2023 non-security preview update includes the following improvements:

1 Copilot is currently available in preview in select global markets. It is our intention to add additional markets over time.

2 Devices running Home and Pro (non-managed) on Windows 10, version 22H2.

3 4GB RAM and 720p display required. Timing of feature delivery and availability varies by market and device. Requires Microsoft account to login.

4 Device may need to reboot to enable new features.

5 Note the toggle won't be enabled for managed devices (those that are managed by Windows Update for Business or WSUS).

6 Screenshot of Copilot on Windows 10 above is simulated, subject to change. Feature availability and rollout timing varies by market and device.

With this update, we are beginning to roll out Copilot in Windows (in preview)1 for devices running Windows 10, version 22H2 Home and Pro editions2. Windows Insiders in Release Preview with eligible devices3 running Windows 10, version 22H2 who are interested in experiencing Copilot in Windows as soon as possible can choose to do so by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and turning on "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2249590)" and Check for updates4,5. As a reminder, this will be a phased launch via controlled feature rollout (CFR) over the coming months.

The Copilot in Windows (https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2023/09/21/announcing-microsoft-copilot-your-everyday-ai-companion/) button will appear on the right side of the taskbar in Windows 10. When you select it, Copilot in Windows appears at the right on your screen. It will not overlap with desktop content or block open app windows.

Windows 10 Pro edition devices on version 22H2 that are managed by organizations will not be included in this initial rollout of Copilot in Windows. Windows 10 Enterprise and Education edition devices on version 22H2 will also not be included in this initial rollout of Copilot in Windows. [Search on the Taskbar]
[Windows Backup]

Insiders in the Beta Channel on Windows 10 who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-windows-updates-as-soon-as-they-re-available-for-your-device-4911c7af-2644-41f7-a800-6660f9212448) via Settings > Updated & Security > Windows Update. ADDED 6/19:

*New! We are advancing the Copilot experience on Windows. It is now pinned to the taskbar and will behave like an app. This gives you the benefits of a typical app experience. For example, you can do things like resize, move, and snap the window. PLEASE NOTE: Managed commercial devices will not receive this new experience. This includes devices not running Windows 10 Home and are managed by an IT administrator.

March 2025 Microsoft Photos update now rolling out to Windows Insiders (https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2025/03/24/march-2025-microsoft-photos-update-now-rolling-out-to-windows-insiders/)

Today we are beginning to roll out a Microsoft Photos app update to Windows Insiders on Windows 11 across all Insider Channels and also to Windows Insiders on Windows 10 in the Release Preview Channel. Not all Insiders will see this update right away or the features noted below as we roll things out to more Insiders over time. Here are some highlights of what is new and improved in this update!

Search the web with OCR-extracted text

The Photos app now comes with a powerful Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature which supports over 160 languages, which began rolling out (https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2024/10/22/microsoft-photos-update-with-super-resolution-begins-rolling-out-to-windows-insiders/) again for Windows Insiders on Windows 11 and Windows 10 at the end of January. To use OCR, simply click the Scan Text button in the Photos Viewer. The app will highlight the recognized text with an overlay, allowing you to easily select and copy it to your clipboard. With this update, we're adding "Search in Web" functionality so you can quickly search for any selected text from your images right from the app.

This enhancement makes it easier than ever to extract and find online results of text from documents, notes, screenshots, and more. Whether you're capturing text from a document or simply exploring the contents of an image, the Photos app's OCR and online search features streamline your workflow and boost your productivity.

Quick access to AI editing and visual search from File Explorer and your desktop

Introducing new File Explorer shortcuts that give you direct access to AI editing and Visual Search without needing to open the Photos app.

Right-click an image in File Explorer and select "Create with Designer" to add rich text, adjust composition with object selection, or enhance colors with color pop.

Plus, use the "Erase Object" shortcut to quickly remove unwanted elements. And with "Visual Search with Bing" shortcut, you can easily look up similar images, related products, and more right from your desktop.

Show subfolder images and videos in the Photos Gallery
Now you can use filters to adjust how your subfolder and gallery content show up. By enabling "Show subfolders", you can now see all the images and videos from subfolders in the Gallery, making it a richer navigation experience.

Introducing the new Copilot button in the Photos app
We are excited to unveil the Copilot button in the Photos app that brings AI directly to your fingertips.

This Copilot integration is rolling out soon and with this new feature, you can effortlessly share your photos with AI to receive:

New Copilot button at the top of Photos Viewer highlighted in a red box.

Other fixes and improvements

To get these new features, update your app to version 2025.11030.20006.0 or higher via the Microsoft Store. This update is currently rolling out, so it may not be available right away. As always, we love getting your feedback so please share your thoughts in Feedback Hub (Win + F) under Apps > Photos.
