I used Spartan Clipboard Manager a long time ago and found it very impressive. There is no substitute for this versatile program, I have looked. The program I used was on an older computer that is long since gone.
I want to install the program on my present computer, however the story is that the program was put out by a single Scottish programmer that got cancer and stopped updating, and appears to have stopped allowing downloads from his site which has since disappeared. For a while he was allowing downloads for free before closing down his site completely. Nobody has taken over.
There are some secondary download sites. Some have discontinued it, some still offer a download but how do I know they are legit There is a copy on filehippo seems most promising. I would like a copy of the download but am unwilling to take a chance on some unknown site, how do I get one and check it before installing?

As to FileHippo, it does have a decent reputation for being safe. File Hippo has always been reputable. I've downloaded many files from there over the years without issue.

I too can vouch for both filehippo and Spartan Clipboard. I have not tried the one that is on filehippo, but I will say that from the posting there it appears to be version 21.05. From the date indicated that version was possibly one of the first versions that the owner posted for free. He updated Spartan Clipboard through 21.7 and then to the final version 22.10. I am not sure what filehippo means by "trial version".

There is also an "alternative to" button which sometimes finds open source/free alternatives to softwares.
