Title: *GULP* Here's My Log
Post by: babyoh on March 28, 2006, 02:05:54 PM
:rose: 1st time this has happened:
when i turned computer (Laptop) on today, got a TERRIBLE freeze during startup.
AFTER startup got to my desktop, the cursor froze, hard drive light WASN'T BLINKING, control-alt-delete wouldn't bring up Task Manager
- ALL I COULD DO, was HOLD DOWN power button for about 15 seconds, to re-boot. (power button usually only needs a TAP, to turn computer on).
:help:
NORTON showed ZERO infections, SPYBOT found and fixed something called HITBOX
ADAWARE found and fixed 2 critical objects:
1) tracking, TYPE: IECache DATA MINER 0bject - Cookie:owner@live265.com/
2) tracking, IECache, DATA MINER, Object - C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Cookies\owner@live[1].txt
:blink1:
i turned off tea-timer, closed all apps, and ran HIJACKthis.
here 'tis.
OH: i DID get a "you have an internet connection" message cuz my wi-fi had connected. I UNPLUGGED modem/router, in case for some reason that was fouling me up, but it didn't help...

Hello,babyoh & Welcome

If you are stell around here post us a new HijackThis logfile.

&

HijackThis MUST be moved to a folder of its own where it can save backups.
Rightclick on an empty space on your C:\Drive & choose New > Folder
Name it HJT
Rightclick HijackThis.exe, choose Cut.
Doubleclick (to open) the folder you created.
Rightclick inside and choose Paste.

Gogo

i'm confused.
HJthis IS is it's own folder...
it's on my desktop - the path is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\HIJACK THIS
* i've had my logs looked at here before, and i haven't changed anything.
when i run HJT, it generates a log that's saved inside it's folder.
- (not trying to be difficult; i'll put it in a new folder if you want, i'm just confused cuz it's already IN it's own folder.)
...are you trying to navigate me to a BETTER location for it?

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

That is the XP fault logging application that writes the details of memory dump and other errors to a text file to send to Microsoft.  I suspect the boot-up error was just a glitch, and you have nothing to worry about.

Has the computer booted normally since?

That isn't really a folder for HJT ... you have it saved within your desktop folder.  It's best to have it in something of its own, for example C:\HijackThis or C:\Program Files\HijackThis.

 YEP - it was just a onetime thing. (MY NEW LOG IS BELOW. )
i followed instructions, and now the HighjackThis app is in C:\HJT folder.
* Can I re-name that folder to "HIGHJACK THIS"? * - i still have the original folder on my desktop, and it has older logs, and a HJT faq in there. i was going to change the name of that folder, and file it away, but i got a message: "if you re-name or move this, the app might not work properly." seems like it'd be safe, as the app is now somewhere else, but i wanted to check...
 anyway, thanks for your help. here's my new log. all seems fine, but i might as well post it. if anybody sees anything worth checking out...
