Title: Can someone check my hijack.log please
Post by: Digital Dadcu on April 29, 2006, 10:18:11 PM
Can someone please check my hijack log. Two processes in my Task Manager have been flagged as possible problems
They are explorer.exe and lsass.exe, I know these can be legit, but I would like to be sure.

Digital Dadcu , hello and welcome :)

1. Please move your HiJack This from the desktop, to a permanent folder. This because the backups are in danger of being deleted if  placed on the desktop , if we should need to back the system .

2. Print those instructions, or copy them to a notepad sheet and save it to your desktop.

3. We need to make the system files visible, do this:
Click (Windowskey+E) and in the toolbar click "Tools>Folder options" and under tab "View" checkmark "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected system files" and "Hide file extentions for known filetypes"

4. Make sure your Ewido program is up to date

A quick guide is found here:
http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/Tutorials/ewidoQuickGuide.pdf

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
Ewido manual updates (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/)

Once the updates are installed close the program for now

5.Open your control panel applet and "Add/Remove Programs" and see if you find "Media Ticket" or "Click Spring" in the list ,or any other program that looks unfamilliar or suspicious. Then uninstall it.

6. Run HiJack This and checkmark the following details and click on "fix checked" ,then click yes to the prompt that follows:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.virgin.net
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winhla32 - winhla32.dll (file missing)

7. Reboot your system to "Safe Mode"; reboot and during the startup process, tap the F8-key repetedly until a screen appears where you navigate with the arrow keys.Choose Safe Mode and hit Enter, and your desktop will show, but not looking as usual. The icons will be much bigger but thats normal.

8.In safe mode, navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and in that folder locate winhla32.dll  and remove it.

9. While still in safe mode, start the Ewido scanner. A yellow "e" is placed on your desktop.
