Jokes / Three trees & a Woodpecker
« on: November 07, 2017, 10:07:45 AM »
It is hard to find a joke today without a dirty word or two in it, but here is one:

Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods.  A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch, 'Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?'

The birch says he cannot tell, but just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling.  The birch says, 'Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech or a son of a birch?'

The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree and replies, 'It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever poked my pecker into.

Hi JDBush61,
Nice pics.

Well, never say never. ;) Should the urge ever hit again, I'm sure you'll be back out on two wheels.
Maybe.........
All my hardtails were bolt on with a King/Queen seat.
My first bike was a 62 BSA Lightening that was ported/polished, and balanced. What a bike! Oh and it had the "side draft" carb also. Ended up sliding down a highway near here after a high speed wobble flipped the bike and me. Nine days later i was out of the hospital and back on another bike that was a Harley......57 shoivel head i think....could have been a pan head? Somewhere i have a pic of that bike. Never could get used to the wing ding sound of foreign bikes although i have nothing against them.
Ah yes the dessert at night from Palm Springs to 29 Palms, Calif. (Marine base) was a cold ride and that mountain pass just outside Palm Springs had lots of high wind so was very cold! The town of 29 Palms had a restaurant that had the best Bear Claws ever. We would get one before going to Palm Springs and of course when coming back with hot choclate. Was at 29 Palms 60 days then got orders to go to Marine Barracks Camp Allen in Norfolk Va, Brig unit. Was Building Overseerer for max security till i was discharged.....14 months. Humm Yahoo Nonsence....dont know what you mean;-DDD
Ya nothing like the sound of a Harley for sure. In town here i hear them quit often and there are a few guys that live a few blocks away that have Harleys which cruise by every once inawhile and still give me the urge to get another one but dont truly have the time to ride these days not even on a Sunday afternoon. Oh well maybe when i retire (70 today) ill buy another one but has to be pre AMF.

Hi techie,

You can find the the at rest CPU, system temperatures and fan speed in the Bios as well. It is located under the H/W feature. The fan speeds can be adjusted here as well.
At the moment ill leave all as is except i did change the Bios to "Failsafe Default". Rebooted and ran both linux and Windows systems for 4 hours and no over heating in fact it was very cool so if it was overclocked thats taken care of.
I did blow it out with my compressor (i was careful) and all was clean except the power supply had quite abit of dust clumps that blew into the interior of the case which i had to blow out all over again;-).
Tonight i have the time to install a new Linux system and then ill know if it runs hot or not although 4 hours of running last night should have heated it up if it was going to.
It had W7 on it and it was an illegal copy so thats the hd im going to format and load linux on.
Ill check temps and fan speeds this weekend to see what im dealing with but if a problem comes up i might be in Bios sooner.
Looks like a 900 Antec tower but has much more plumbing than ive seen in pics of the MSI original MB.
Thanks for all the links and all the help/info you all supplied. Its been very helpful for this noob;-)
I am abit suprised at all the memory sticks it has. i havent pulled any to check but i will this weekend. Its supposed to take Turbo memory only and it looks like there is other sticks in there but it does run very nicely even though its probably been through hell;-).
If any problems come up ill be back to get advice from the pro's.
Thanks to all,
Ghost

Antec is your case. I don't know the exact model case.

http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=704923&fid=4&lan=us

The motherboard is MSI of course here:

https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/X48C_Platinum/Overview

motherboard manual is here:

https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X48C_Platinum#down-manual

Your video card is Nvidia.

http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce2mx.html

It's most likely built for a gaming system. The system bios is probably overclocking everything. This creates more heat. It is an older system. I would check your bios settings and set it to default to start. Enter del to enter setup on post.
Whew so much info. When i turn it on i will set the Bios to Default for sure. Might just solve the heating problem described to me by the guy who gave it to me.

    but heats up with W10.

Without actually stating the temperatures, this does not tell us anything. Does it overheat? What are the actual temps?
I havent turned it on yet and was going by what the exowner told me. Tonight i will set it up and turn it on then i might be able to give you better info.
Thanks all,
Ghost

Hi JDBush61,
Nice bikes!
I got out of the Marines in Feb.1970 and just weeks later i bought a 1969 900 Sporter XLCH.
Took it to a chop shop and weeks later rolled out a beautiful chopped Harley. Motor work, trany work, Lake injectors, a bad fast bike and of course a hard tail!. Had it for two years and then totaled it and almost me.
Decided i needed something alittle less so bought a 1969 Triumph TR6-R and it also was chopped, motor work, hard tail with a narrow glide Springer. Very nice bike and could take any 900 Kaw on the street at that time.
The Harley was a problem crusiing around the city. It wouold load up and run rough so had to get on the hiway and blow it out every now and then:-). Cruised to Wheeling Colorado to watch Pikes Peak races and cruised back and spent many hours just cruising around the country side.
Had several bikes that arent worth mentioning but still to this day i love Harleys even though AMF bought them out in the early 70's as i heard it.
I like a clean non cluttered bike and thats why i had most of my bikes chopped with hidden wireing and etc.
Today i have no bike, bummer, and at 70 with my own business i think my riding days are over but.............

Jokes / Blondes
« on: September 28, 2017, 10:13:45 AM »
A young ventriloquist is touring Sweden and, one night, he’s doing a show in a small fishing town.
With his dummy on his knee, he starts going through his customary dumb-blonde jokes.

Suddenly, a blonde woman in the fourth row stands on her chair and starts shouting, "I've heard enough of your stupid blonde jokes. What makes you think you can stereotype Swedish blonde women that way? What does the color of a woman's hair have to do with her worth as a human being?
It's men like you who keep women like me from being respected at work and in the community, and from reaching our full potential as people. It's people like you that make others think that all blondes are dumb! You and your kind continue to perpetuate discrimination against not only Blondes, but women in general . . . pathetically, all in the name of humor!"

When the embarrassed ventriloquist begins to apologize, the blonde shouts . . . "You stay out of this. I'm talking to that little s*** on your lap."

Jokes / New school teacher
« on: September 25, 2017, 10:10:33 AM »
After retiring from the Marine Corps, a former Drill Instructor Sergeant took a job as a high school teacher.  Just before the school year started, he injured his back.  He was required to wear a light plaster cast around the upper part of his body.  Fortunately, the cast fit snugly under his shirt and wasn't noticeable when he wore his suit jacket.

On the first day of class, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in the school.  The smart-aleck punks, having already heard the new teacher was a former Marine, were leery of him and he knew they would be testing his discipline in the classroom.

Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, the new teacher opened the window wide and sat down at his desk, he looked around the room and made eye contact with each and every student.  A strong breeze through the window made his tie flap.  He picked up a stapler and stapled the tie to his chest.

Dead Silence.

The rest of the school year went very smooth...
