Internet / Re: SpywareBeware domain issue?

Hi. :)

The domain expired due to my missing the renewal notice - the email addy used for that crapped out, and I'm looking into it.
I renewed it today, and as soon as DNS makes the rounds, it should be fine.

(Hey, at least I'm consistent; I haven't missed missing a domain renewal yet... ;) )

Thanks, folks - I'm still in shock...

Happy to help - best of luck! :)

Any Mac store will be able to do it, but the easiest way is to look in your Utilities folder. If you're using OS 8, you'll need to use the Drive Setup program to initialize the disk (on Macs, formatting is known as initializing).
Open the Drive Setup folder in your Applications/Utilities folder and select the Drive Setup Guide - you'll find all the instructions needed to initialize the drive and zero the data (very important for your purposes - make sure you zero the data to prevent any possible recovery!).

HTH :)

For a complete wipe, re-partition your HD using the following steps:

1. Start up using the Disk Tools disk.
2. Open Apple HD SC Setup.
3. Click Partition.
4. Select your main Macintosh volume and remove it (this wipes out all data!).
5. Click and drag from just below the driver partition all the way to the bottom.
6. Select Macintosh volume in the resulting dialog box.
7. Reboot and reinstall the OS.

That should do it. :)

What you're looking for are "clean installation" instructions, which can be found here.
However, you can run OS X just fine on a G3, provided you have enough HD space and RAM, and you can also easily (and fairly cheaply) upgrade it to a G4 - it's worth considering.

HTH :)
