SpywareBlaster database update 11/1/2021

6 NEW items (IE/ActiveX)

16 NEW items (Edge/Scripts)

for a total of 18,634 items in database

After updating, be sure to manually enable all protection.

While I discovered MyPal when looking for a currently-supported browser that still runs under XP, I don't want to overlook the fact that it runs on newer systems as well, including Win10.   In fact, I recently opted to install MyPal on a new Win10 system, as my secondary browser (EDGE being my primary).   I chose MyPal over Firefox and PaleMoon, because they're both getting too many minor updates... I know I can install them all, as I have on other systems, but I made a decision which simplifies maintenance.

I have two XP systems at home, and still use them... occasionally... to go online.   (Of course, the bulk of my daily work is done on my Win10 systems).

End of MyPal ?

Just when I was so happy with MyPal that I made it my (only) "secondary" browser on a new computer system, it appears that MyPal may be coming to an end, due to an ongoing license fight with PaleMoon :-(  I sure hope they can resolve the bad blood...

Wishes for a most happy birthday!  :D

MyPal 29.3.0 (released this Jul 24, 2021)

The update corresponds [to PaleMoon] version 29.3.0

Differences: Applied "prefers-color-scheme" stuff. Not applied poking with newtab and about:home for win10 - placing search icon inside the search box, i think this not needed and they did not complete that for this version. Let we see that when it will be complete.

My current add-ons are:
     uBlock Origin
     HTTPS Always 5.2.25
     NoSquint 2.2.2
     Lazarus: Form Recovery 2.3.1

There's a program called WhyNotWin11 available from MajorGeeks

I just ran it, and have included my results as an attachment.

CAVEAT:   Because this is an essentially "unknown" program,  I had to "go through contortions" to run it.   Windows attempted to block it --- both from downloading AND from running --- which I had to explicitly override.   And my antivirus also blocked it, until I set-up an exclusion.   I did so because I trust MajorGeeks as a reliable site.   There is no indication that the program performed any actions other than those it indicated it would be doing.

I only have a 3rd-Generation Intel "Ivy Bridge" [purchased 2012], so that won't meet the TPM 2.0 requirement.
The system was originally purchased with Win7 (that I upgraded to Win10)... so as far as I know, it's still booting from BIOS rather than UEFI, and so I believe it's not using Secure Boot either.

Unfortunately, the app is advising me that my PC will NOT run Win11... but there doesn't appear to be any elaboration as to which requirements it doesn't meet.   So I don't know whether it's merely a software/bios setting that can be updated/tweaked... or a perhaps a minor hardware upgrade... or if there's some "essential" flaw that's limiting my system.

Interesting.   My understanding had been Windows 10 would be an ongoing "Windows as a service", without formally "advancing" to a newer version. Whether the next generation is known as Win 11 or SunValley, I wonder if Microsoft will allow (dare I say, encourage) then-existing Win10 users to freely upgrade?
