Computer Problems, Questions and Solutions! / Sign in problem
« on: January 10, 2019, 08:49:14 PM »
Corrine, First I want to thank you for the last answer. I have a new problem. I was trying to see what 10 had to offer & signed up to windows that asked for a pin #. I did that but now when I start up instead of saying my e-mail & name it wants me to sign in with the pin.

I think I fixed that but now I still have to sign in with my password. It is just a pain as I did not have to sign in before. I just can't get how to let me go back to the way it was. Not having to sign in ever time the computer starts.

I should not try new things on 10 & it will keep me out of trouble.

Thanks
Mary

Corrine,

I did disable "fast startup" but that was not the problem. Should I keep this disabled?
When I removed Malwarebytes & installed again this solved the problem.

Once again thank you for all your help, don't know what I would do without every one here.

Computer Problems, Questions and Solutions! / Question about Malware
« on: January 08, 2019, 09:29:32 PM »
I have Malwarebytes Premium under real-time protection Ransomware protection is off & I can't turn it on for some reason. I am sure it should be on but how? Also under scan options the scan for rootkits is off, I can turn this on, should I.

Thanks for all you help in advance.

I just got a notice that there is a new version on Windows 10. The old one is version 1703 now 1803. It also says if I don't like it I can go back. My question is should I update to the new version.

As always thanks

Thanks everyone. I did go with uBlock. Origin.

Another question, I have a cannon printer that I wanted to add to computer. When I found the disc that came with the printer it would not fit into the slot because the printer disc is a round hole & the slot on the computer has a round disc with 3 tabs so it does not fit. I had to go to cannon to install it. I also have quite a few older disc for card making that don't fit. Are they all no good on 10? Hope I have explained this right.

I have Dell Optiplex 9030. On the side where the power button is there are 3 more buttons which I don't know what they are for & I can't find a answer anywhere.

Again thank you. 10 is very different but I guess I am getting it.

Hi everyone,
Got the Windows 10 & I am learning but I don't know what adblock to use. I am getting them on all the sites. I have Firefox.

Also on my printer which is a cheap one, I installed it on the new computer. On Windows 7 I was able to go to the top left & hit print but now I don's see how to do that now. Any help would be appreciated.

 Thanks & Happy New Year

Thanks, Corrine, Digerati & plodr.

Digerati, you are right parents are not suppose to outlast their kids. My husband & I know she is in a better place with no pain. We thought she was getting better so it was a shock we will never forget.

I am sure there will be questions with Windows 10 & I know everyone here who is always patient with me will help.

Hope 2019 is good to everyone

Computer Problems, Questions and Solutions! / A apology & a thank you

Back in April of this year I asked everyone for help as I could not get on the internet. Corrine, plodr & everyone else tried to help me for weeks.

I stopped going on the computer because we lost our daughter & up till now I just gave up doing  many things.

I wanted to update you that it was my computer as I had it repaired or tried to have it repaired. I have just ordered a new computer which will be a Dell Windows 10. I am not looking forward to learning the 10 but it is something I have to do.

Just so you know on the modem it only has 3 lights not 4 that light. One is dsl & power which is green & the middle light is the ethernet which goes on when I hit the power button. Like I had said we live in a very rural area.

Not only at the end was I having trouble with the internet, I had the keyboard freeze quite a few times. This computer is not that old but I have had lots of problems since I bought it. Hope the new one is better.

Again I just want to thank everyone for their help & please know I did appreciate it.

Merry Christmas

Hi,

I called my provider they said a service man will come out again on Mon but they doubt it is the modem as I had the same problem before they changed to a new but same type modem.

I do not have wifi.

Thanks for all the help & Happy Easter to everyone

I also tried to put the #'s in when on the computer & the same message comes up, the connection has times out.

Thought this might help

Thanks

plodr,

When I go on Firefox in the address it comes up https://news.google.com. I then did what you said & it tells me the connection has timed out. The server is taking too long to respond. I do try again & the same thing happens.

I went back & opened firefox again & the same thing happens.

The only way I can get on & do anything is to remove the 2 cords put them back in & then I can go on.

Thanks

Mary
