Jokes / A years worth of chocolate
« on: July 30, 2021, 08:16:35 PM »
Seems a small price to pay:

It appears I'm not the only one that can be bribed with chocolate.

OK.I saw that mentioned as a possible reason somewhere.

Did you make a remote desktop connection to a computer that had these languages in their layout settings?

Nope Corrine, you read my mind.  :D
Under normal circumstances it's a waste of time to scan for rootkits. Although it doesn't hurt to check once in a while, maybe every month or so.
Or when you are experiencing strange behavior, but it's obvious you will want to use the full potential in such a case.

Unless you are experiencing unidentified malware-like problems, these are my recommended settings:

LandzDown Lounge / An explanation
« on: September 19, 2020, 08:15:59 AM »
For those of you that reached out to me lately and were disappointed by no response. It's not that I didn't want to respond, I have just not found the time nor the motivation to do so. My dad died 4 weeks ago and I've been very sad and busy at the same time.
It's not like I feel I owe you an apology, but an explanation was the least I could do.

Take care,

Working from home
Keeping my distance
Not going out much

All is going as usual really. :)

Not playing it down though. It has taken our country over a month of lockdown to flatten the curve. And there are still dimwits out there that can't follow rules and infect others while they are at it.

What we don't need are leaders that belong to that group of people.
"I will go on shaking hands"
"I don't see myself weariung a mask"

We do need leaders that lead by example and explain why we do what we need to do and worry about the economy and elections later when it's all over.
Hopefully that will be soon.

Take care.

Jokes / Pregnant

Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher.
The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant."
The teacher took the lad aside to correct him.
"Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked.
"Sure," said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child."

It wasn't as much the domains I was interested in, but more all the different tactics they used. I remember vividly the excitement when we figured one out and could ask Merijn to update HijackThis and later CWShredder to tackle it.  8)

There was so much information I couldn't find anymore due to the forums that disappeared or got their databases scrambled. Literally hundreds of thousands of my posts are gone forever. Which is not always regrettable. ;)  Fortunately I saved Merijn's CWS chronicles which were a good resource.

Use the extension along with Malwarebytes Pro?

Yes, it does add functionality even if you are already using Malwarebytes Premium. But as stated above, it is even more adviseable to use a less "mainstream" browser. *cough* go away Chrome *cough*

Shameless plug, but I'm going to do it anyway. If you are using Chrome or Firefox I would consider adding the Malwarebytes extension which is not totally dependent on a blocklits but also uses behavioral analysis.

You can find some information here:
