Suggestions and Site Feedback / Re: How long is "Modify"
« on: August 01, 2008, 07:17:13 AM »
I think BG has said it all here:
Just my  :2cents:   here........I too would like to see unlimited edit time in all post except HJT forum,

SpyDie quote,  Just so I can understand what you are suggesting - you wish the edit time to be unlimited? So the posts may be edited at any time?

Aaron Quote: Please help me better understand. By not allowing longer edit time, in what way does this suggest distrust for you?
I feel I answered your question at the beginning of my last post in this thread..........sorry, can't make it any clearer

kind regards,  :)

Hi Aaron,

This is exactly what trust is for me.  Take any of the numbered items, in the end it is one who trusts another.

Reading this thread,
my first post was on 20th March 2008 and I wished to correct it on 31st July 2008 Therefore the following quote from your last post:
Aaron wrote: As we're discussing, I am interested in learning what amount of edit time you feel will provide the good balance that I mentioned earlier.  Would you say 5 minutes provides this good balance, or 10 minutes?
is not what I had in mind.............

An edit button is an edit button, we are not on the same wave length here so as I am busy with other things and other forums, it is best if we let it be.

Giving the example of 'Malware Removal'  re an edit capability, I could not agree more with you.

I am not an accredited Malware fighter so giving that example concerning my request did not seem to fit our discussion at all in my opinion.  I have huge respect for Malware fighters, read my post here: so would not advocate or suggest edit buttons in HJT forums, although I have one in the forum I frequent if I am in trouble.

I enjoy forum work when I have the time, but am wary here to post much as mistakes can be made by me and with no way of correcting them I stay almost clear to tell you the truth.

It is late here, my bedtime, but as I will not be around tomorrow I hope this reply has answered for you my thoughts regarding this topic.

kind regards,

Thank you Aaron for your reply -

For what other reason would selected members not have an edit button?.......we all make mistakes from time to time, so as trusted members of a forum, surely we do not have to ask someone with edit capabilites to correct the mistake for us as I have had to do on many ocassions on this forum.

My last post is a good example where I gave the link that I would like to correct and cannot. Alternatively, can you explain (without telling me the forum staff don't want posts changed) why I cannot have an edit button?  As afore mentioned this is the only forum I am a member of that I am missing an edit button to correct my own posts if a mistake is found after the restricted 'modify' time.

kind regards,

Oh Yes,

I learned that zions ago.

You are correct, both mine are set to 'enable', just had a look, but did not touch due to my lesson learned in your quote above....

Thanks for your post.  :goodie:

Hey dickw  :)

To my knowledge/experience, you don't need Java, as in the SunJava that we update & remove the older versions, to view youtubes.
I speak of javascript, which is not related to Java, but is confusing due to the names being similar.
Enabling JavaScript is a setting in your browser, and having it disabled will cause the youtube "video" to be missing and a message thrown about needing an updated FLASHplayer or some such.
I surf with my javascript disabled, and then allow it on a site by site basis using NoScript add-on in Firefox.  Thought maybe BG might have been doing the same.

Ah...ya don't need to be a softy to enjoy the humanity displayed in that was quite special, even though short lived.

I believe you, but where in my browser options does it tell me:
Enabling JavaScript is a setting in your browser,
I am running IE 6.0 and the closest setting I can see to your quote is
Disable Script debugging (IE Explorer)
Disable Script debugging (other)
I have them both enabled/ticked.

I also see in my Add and Remove I have:
Adobe Flash Player ActiveX
Adobe Flash Player Plug-in
Adobe Shock Player Ver. 11

Are all these needed?

I like to learn so please teach me!

kind regards,  :)

Done!! No problem, if you are happy, I am happy.

I am not happy, I still want an edit button as I have on all forums I am registered on.  If I had one I could correct my wallpaper post on

Where is the trust on this forum?  :thud:

Hello Ripley,

tears,  :goodie: golly, you are a softy like me.

Your link also works for me and you do need Java, but then I thought everyone had the latest Java 6.07

Analysis and Malware Removal / Re: virtumonde

I would like to concur with Basementgeek in his reply to yet again your third thread in this forum asking for assistance.

Here are two other threads that you did not finish and caused mostly Corrine to use her valuable time to analyse your or your friends logs.

Please understand the work that Corrine needs to do to analyse your logs, so please have the manners to reply to her posts until she gives you clearance that your system is clean.

Personally if I was accredited to analyse logs on any forum, yours would be the last I would attempt due to your lack of respect for the Malware fighters here and on any other HJT forums.  Surely you must realize that this is volunteer work and most Malware fighters have done years of study to do it and added to that they do it in their spare time.

I have been around many forums, but never have I seen such lack of respect for someone who is trying to assist another.

Temmu, Your post was missing with only a red X in the upper left hand corner

Ripley, I really liked your choices, what wonderful voices Russell Watson and Hayley Westenra have.....with their lives before them.

A couple or three that I like:
