Security Software Programs / WinPatrol plus and Tabtip.exe
« on: November 08, 2017, 12:13:18 PM »
The plus information for Tabtip.exe gives the following:
Technical information on Tablet PCs can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/tpcdploy.asp.
However the link results in a page not found.
I was having the problem where Winpatrol would request that tabtip.exe be allowed or not and even after allowing it would show up on the next boot.
I have the latest win 10 version 1709 build 16299.19 installed

« on: January 29, 2016, 11:04:44 AM »
Why doesn't Winpatrol scheduled tasks list all scheduled tasks as shown in the attachment.??
There are also more tasks in the dropdown in Windows scheduled tasks which are also not shown by Winpatrol.

Security Software Programs / Hijack log lists wrong platform
« on: December 29, 2015, 02:12:40 PM »
I have attached the heading of the Winpatrol hijjack log and the platform lists:
Platform: Windows 8.1  Tablet PC Edition Home Edition
Windows x64 Version 6.3 Build 9600  2

This PC is platform Windows x64 Version 10  1511   Desktop
Where is Winpatrol getting this information from?

Security Software Programs / File association listing in Winpatrol
« on: December 26, 2015, 09:41:15 PM »
The listing for file associations dos not show the association that actually exists.
Some examples:
My Win 10 has
Metapad for .txt, .log winpatrol shows notepad
zplayer for .mp3 Winpatrol shows  Wmplayer
angelwriter for .rtf     Winpatrol shows Wordpad

Shouldn't Winpatrol show the existing file association?

Security Software Programs / Lastpass and delay start
« on: December 10, 2015, 09:08:26 AM »
there are 2 items in startup:
Install LastPass FF RunOnce ---- "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\lpuninstall.exe" -q -name=LastPass -ffuuid support@lastpass.com
Install LastPass IE RunOnce ---- "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\lpuninstall.exe" -p -name=LastPass -ffuuid support@lastpass.com
When you try to move them both to delay start the second one you move will not end up in delay start.
It looks like Winpatrol thinks they are the same but they are not in that the parameter is different for each. the first has a -Q the second has a -P.
How do I get them both in delay start?

« on: June 22, 2014, 10:44:46 AM »
On my PC win 8 lenovo installed 8.1.
Winpatrol shows igfxtray.exe to be disabled in the startup list however Task Manager shows it as running.
Winpatrol does not find find "Filesfrog update checker" also shown as running in Task Manager.
I was able to disable igfxtray using "autoruns" and remove Files frog using the uninstall program in its folder.

Security Software Programs / WinPatrol Services list
« on: April 03, 2014, 11:06:43 AM »
PC is a Lenovo H530s with Win 8.1
In the WinPatrol list of "services started" it shows that QUICKSNIPSERVICE.EXE is not found.
However i can not find where QUICKSNIPSERVICE.EXE is supposed to be started from.
I can see nothing in Services.msc List about the program.
And nothing in Scheduled Tasks.
Where else could it be trying to start from?
Thanks in advance.

I have both Hotkeycmds and igfxtray shown as being disabled in the Startup Programs tab.
In fact they are both listed twice as being disabled.
They are not listed in the start up area.
But they both show as running in Task Manager.
I also have the Display Secret startup locations checked.

The OS is Win 7 Home Premium with SP1
Winpatrol is version 20.5.2011.0:20.5.2011.0
