« on: June 24, 2006, 02:15:47 PM »
 :D  Hi Landzdown Team :

Perhaps it would be wise to change "Ewido Anti-malware ( 3.5 ) " to the now
"Ewido Anti-spyware 4.0 " in all the appropiate places !?

Security Software Programs / Ad-Aware Update SE1B100
« on: March 22, 2006, 11:45:24 PM »
 :D Hi Everyone :

Got an email notification from Lavasoft of the release of "SE1B100 has been
released today for beta testing" ; I have never seen such a Release. Beta
usually means experimental and I usually avoid such "things". What is going
     on with this "Update" ?

Hi All :

Recently, I ran a HJT scan to see how many "running processes" it would say I have
and it reported 31; a little later I ran an Ad-Aware SE latest version full scan and it
said 36 "running processes". Ad-Aware was NOT included in the running processes of
HJT, but still wonder why Ad-Aware reports an additional 4 running processes ?

 :)  I recently ran a HJT scan & it listed a "03-Toolbar:& Radio....." entry.
I checked Tony Klein's CLSID List about this "msdxm.ocx" & it made
reference to Windows98 & a Microsoft article; however, a google search
had a listing that said msdxm.ocx is required for Windows Media Player.
Since I have & use Windows Media Player 10 & have Win XP, do I need this ?

Security Software Programs / Removing Gator/Claria from System Restore
« on: August 05, 2005, 03:45:25 PM »
:D  Several months ago I visited a fellow Bridge player's home to "checkout" his computer; after
uninstalling, then downloading & installing the latest versions of Ad-Aware & SpywareBlaster, I ran
a "Full System Scan" and part of the results showed Gator/Claria in the System Restore. Not
remembering the sequence of steps necessary to clean adware/spyware from there, I cleaned
everything else & asked him if he was interested in getting rid of Gator/Claria. His response was
"wishy- washy", so I let things "slide" & uninstalled Gator/Claria from Add/Remove programs, though
I am not sure how much "returned" the next time he rebooted. Later on I loaned him a article on Spyware for his education. Recently he has expressed an interest in
removing Gator/Claria from his computer; would someone respond with SIMPLE instructions I could
print out & give him on how to do this on his Win XP SP1/2 OS !? I am unsure as to if he has
Dialup or DSL and possibly I could go to his home in the future IF he has trouble following the
    "instructions" !?

LandzDown Lounge / Ad-Aware logfile
« on: July 27, 2005, 04:21:20 PM »
:D  Perhaps I am dense, but I could NOT determine by looking at the names of the various forums
as to which one should be used to post an Ad-Aware Logfile, seeking assistance in removing
the "bad" guys !? I have been in communication with someone I have met playing Fantasy
Baseball and he sent me his logfile, which showed 2 "serious" spyware. Not knowing which
specific forum he should post in here, I sent him to castlecops' "Lavasoft Ad-Aware" forum .

:D  Was wondering what the HijackThis Experts here think of the value of "HijackThis Log file-On line
Analysis" available at, which seems to be put out by Mathias
Mattner ? And of the "HijackThis Log File Analyzer" ? Both of these are advocated to be used by
2 different regular "advisers" on the Avast Antivirus Support forums.
