Kaspersky Free AV - https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/kaspersky-free-goes-global/17811/

I installed it today and it seems to be playing with Malwarebytes nicely. So far.

General Software News, Updates & Discussions / MSE
« on: January 04, 2017, 11:31:22 AM »
As many know there is a major problem with the MSE and Mbam 3 on Win7. However, I noted that after reverting to mbam 2 I was still experiencing general lags and occasional start up shut down problems.
I thoroughly removed both programs and left overs. Re installed mbam 2 and all worked fine. When I installed MSE again I noted slow down of computer. I removed mbam 2 still the lags in performance.
I removed MSE again and installed Eset nod32 anti virus. All the performance problems were gone PC back to normal.
Conclusion, although the clash with Mbam3 and MSE on win 7 is well known. I believe there is also a fundamental change in MSE since its last program update. So, perhaps, not all Mbams fault.
Having now purchased a 5 year licence for Nod32 I will happily stick with it, I will also stay with Mbam2 until they rectify the many faults still present in Mbam 3.05.

Interested to hear from any that have used the preview version.

Is it a new system or a revamp of 7/8 is it good or not

Seems like another misuse of route certificates. Perhaps?

Analysis and Malware Removal / System check Please
« on: February 02, 2015, 11:43:31 AM »
Hi Corrine
I would like you to check my system after an attack which disabled Mbam.
While using Bing Images a notification popped up from Mbam saying protection disabled.
On checking I found Mbam settings had been changed to exclude C: and a scan should all clear. After checking settings and returning to normal a scan found a trojan. Log attached. Followed up with an Eset online scan which was clear. I have attached all the usual logs and would very much appreciate your expertise.

Copy of a post from Mbam forum

Lenovo has requested that this be posted on sites where we are active.

On March 27, 2014, Lenovo voluntarily recalled certain lithium-ion batteries. These batteries were manufactured for use with ThinkPad notebook computers that shipped worldwide between October 2010 and April 2011. Lenovo is offering replacement batteries free of charge regardless of warranty status.

View March 27, 2014 battery recall FAQs.(see link below).

Lenovo sold the batteries with new notebook computers or as optional or replacement batteries on the models listed below.

     ThinkPad T410, T420, T510, W510, X100E, X120E, X200, X201, X201s Series
Edge 11, Edge 13, and Edge 14 Series
     Option P/Ns 43R9255, 51J0500, 57Y4186, 57Y4564, 57Y4565, 57Y4625, 57Y4559, 43R9254, 0A36277

These models may have shipped with 3-cell, 4-cell, 6-cell or 9-cell batteries.

Until a replacement battery arrives, you should turn off the system, remove the battery, and only power your ThinkPad by plugging in the AC adapter and power cord.

Can anyone recomend a reliable cleaner for use with XP sp2 and IE7.

I have Ccleaner but it has problems with IE7. Have also tried ATF cleaner but that has a problem with IE7 and cookies(it removes them all evenen with that service unchecked)  as well.
