For those limping along on the 3x BETA - you could *probably* blast it out as was done with the 2x version.

Proceed at your own caution and peril - set a Restore Point first + a working image of your main drive or drives.

For those that also use SpywareBlaster please delete older Hosts Safe backups as they will contain parked or old entries that may slow the machine.

I think Jane and me first chatted way back when MS NEWS was still on NNTP   Last I read via the MS MVP Alum mailing list she had retired to Florida.

The proof of concept exists but no one that I know has been subject to an infected Mozilla add-on, to date. Mozilla is apparently investigating and will update us as to what they plan on doing to prevent this from happening again.

This is not much unlike other store apps or add-ons being used by the bad guys.

Slim is up on the builds page.   http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

Slim should be released any day. Generally it takes about 7 - 10 from the initial announcement.

Bitdefender anti-ransomware deployed in a WindowsXP environment - users (thus far) are claiming ease of use. This would not include preventing or removing ransomware.

This is currently down or not working, however, if you are subscribed to this mailing list you will get notified via email when it does work.
LzD and a whole rash of other places hosts announcements when the file is updated so keep coming back.

Hi Corrine - Did you notice any difference in your computer's internet speed when you added the MVP host file? On some forums I've seen comments suggesting the host file can slow your computer once it gets big like including MVP host file.
On a modern stand-alone PC there should be no slowness caused by the file.

Anti-virus software vendor Bitdefender released a free tool can be used to clean systems infected by several growing ransomware strains.
The decryption tool protects infections from the rising ransomware family Locky, and two older ransomware strains CTB-Locker and TeslaCrypt that recently resurfaced, the company said.

You could just not go back if the Forum software annoys you.   #Just saying

Someone needs to tell Bleeping computer that that gray box, on the right, that can not be closed, is annoying.
