I waited a couple of days and tried again. Suddenly it worked perfectly...........I have no idea why, but now I'm running Win10.
Thanks for all help, even though it turned out that I didn't need it.
Anders (Amy's boyfriend)

Okay, we followed your instructions, but the problem still remains.  Even after a reboot after deleting those files.  When going back into those folders, the files were back again, but showing a new date and time...the current time. Did a hard delete (Shift/Delete) >> rebooted again >> Clicked the icon Get Windows 10 >> It showed it was downloading >>clicked to view progress of download, and once again, it instructs us to reboot>>checked the download history, it only shows the failed download from yesterday. No record of a download today.

This is getting very frustrating. Ready to shoot :Win73: this thing! lol

We have to come back here another day to work on this.  We are living at my apartment, but the pc is at his apartment, so we are out of time here today, so will return & hope we can find some more possible solutions to work on when we get back.

Thanks sooo much techie for your quick response and help.  We appreciate it a lot!
We welcome any and all other possible solutions & help with this. Thanks! Hugs to all! Skittles

Hi everyone! It's been a long time, since I've been around. So hi to those such as my darling Corrine :rose:, who's still here from back in the day when I was a regular here.

My Swedish boyfriend is in the process of upgrading his desktop from Windows 8.1 pro (originally Win7 Pro), to the new Windows 10.  I'm having a bit of difficulty in helping him with this issue, since his OS was installed using the Swedish language. I've tried to get answers thru the Windows Support, but a bit more difficult again with the language barrier.

He followed the instructions after clicking the icon near the clock, which in Swedish says Skaffa Windows 10 (Get Windows 10). It was downloading. Everything seemed to go well.  We decided to just let the pc run, thru the night since we were going out and would return today.  Upon returning, it was still in the same status of downloading.

During this process both yesterday & today, if we click that same windows icon near the clock, it pulls up a window stating the download is in process. Then we click the link provided to check the download status it says to reboot the system for the updates to be activated.  He would reboot, and after the reboot, again he gets the window to reboot over and over again.

We just found a link on the window that comes up to reboot, to check update history. It states that the download has failed. Upon clicking that, it shows the following...

Uppgradera till Windows 10 Pro
Installationsdatum: ‎2015-‎07-‎31 12:57
Installationsstatus: Misslyckades
Felinformation: Kod 80240020 Få hjälp med felet. (Get help with the problem)
Uppdateringens typ: Viktig
Installera nästa version av Windows.

We clicked the link provided next to the Kod (I put in bold, italicized & underlined) Next it gave us this window & link...
Felsöka problem med att installera uppdateringar (Search & fix problems with installing updates)
Läs mer om vanliga problem med att installera Windows-uppdateringar och vilka åtgärder du kan vidta för att lösa dem och hålla Windows uppdaterat.

Clicked this link...
Här är lösningar på några vanliga problem när du installerar uppdateringar. Du kan ibland automatiskt lösa vissa problem genom att köra felsökaren för Windows Update. (Run the troubleshooter for Windows Update)

We let it go thru its scan, it showed a few things saying that the problem is solved.
Rebooted and tried to start over, by clicking the icon to Get Windows 10 (near the clock) and nothing changed. It shows that the download is in process, but when clicking to check on the download status, we get the reboot thing over and over again, and the download history shows download failed but with yesterdays date. As if we didn't attempt it again.

HELP! Any ideas or suggestions as to what to do next?
Thanks in advance! Amy aka Skittles

I would like to win because disability money doesn't allow me to purchase any full subscription programs, not to mention the transfer of money from Swedish kronor to other forms of money and other fees make it cost so much more.

Oh this is terrible news!!!  I am deeply saddened by this!!  I have talked to Björn a few times on the phone.  We had planned to meet up, when we came to Stockholm to get my replacement passport at the Embassy.  All I have seen are pictures of him, his horses, and one of his kids.  AND I mustn't forget his house, a view from space.  We had satellited each other.  I even saw his vehicle and told him to wave out of the window. hehehe  I satellited Graph the same day, and caught him at the McDonald's driveup by his home. lol

Sorry for joking, but when I am stressed I joke.  I am joking and crying at the same time. lol

I actually thought about calling him, just a few days ago, because I had not heard from him in such a long time.

For those who don't know, unless Corrine already mentioned it, his name Björn means bear in swedish.  And he was just that.  A teddy bear.  So gentle and the nicest man you would ever met or talk to.  He taught me a lot of things about computers.  Not to mention about Sweden, and how things were in Sweden at the time we were about to move back here.

I am really going to miss him, and very much regret that we did not get to meet before this tragedy.

We will miss you much Björn, love ya lots!  Good-bye my dear friend.

I am also pretty sure I am going to buy the Norton Pro and McAffee for the computer.  I figure double the protection is better than one!

PSYCH!!!!!!!!!  muhahahaha  Faked you out!  lol  :tease:

Altho I am starting to think against getting the Vista.  I was just talking to some ppl in a blog and they are having sooooo many problems with it.  They say it doesn't seem to be getting better but rather worse.

So I might get the XP english version, OR keep the Swedish one that I have and wait longer for Vista to clean things up and then buy the upgrade.

Corrine, I do have alot of floppy disks, but I heard the life on these things are not too great.  I do have some important documents on one, but I guess the rest I could do without.  It could be that they are corrupt anyway because either that or my floppy on this computer just doesn't work.  Because it can't read anything on them.

So I am thinking of taking the floppy out and taking the extra CD-DVD player, instead.

250GB Corrine!  Yeah well as you know I backed it down to that, on your advice.  Thanks.  hehehe

I am also pretty sure I am going to buy the Norton Pro and McAffee for the computer.  I figure double the protection is better than one!

The site I got this from is in Swedish, so I translated all that I could, so I am sorry if I missed something and you don't understand it.

My biggest concern right now is the graphics card. I know NOTHING about hardware at all.

The purpose for our computer is internet surfing, forum admins and mods, support forums, creating tutorials, playing games such as Sims, and simular. I am usually always multitasking, so I need a computer that will be fast enough to handle a lot of tabs open at a time. My husband might also be getting into playing games too such as Pirates and Age of Impires 3 or 4. But not the serious gamer type of games.

Please do not tell my your "dream" machine specs, as we cannot afford it. We are just getting so tired of freezes, and the computer running so slow. Needs more Memory and a better processer. So we are just going to buy new.

I am also looking at a custom build computer and I am trying to distinguish between these two motherboards. Can someone help me? Please tell me which is the better one?

Those links are in Swedish but the specs should be easy to understand.

Am I correct in assuming that the first one has a graphics card onboard? Graphics card and Video card is the same thing right?

But if it does have an onboard graphics card is it good enough? I was looking towards getting this graphics card. or

I am not good at telling the difference. The second one is the graphics card that came with that complete system that I spoke about above. But it is expensive, but not sure if it is overkill.

But I am thinking that the graphics card onboard the motherboard probably isn't good enough? Is that correct?

What do you think?

Thanks in advance for your help.
