Web News / Malwarebytes problems with Windows 10 2004
« on: June 22, 2020, 09:39:47 AM »
In numerous reports to the Malwarebytes support forums since Windows 10 version 2004, the May 2020 Update, was released, users are reporting many problems with MBAM 4.1 installed.

These issues range from random freezes, general slowness, video stuttering, blue screen of death crashes (BSOD), or Windows 10 becoming unresponsive.

[Stress that] not everyone running Windows 10 2004 seems to be affected,

Malwarebytes has released a Windows Beta version 4.1.1.71 in early June that appears to resolve this issue.

Adobe says that once Flash reached the EOL date, the company doesn't merely plan to stop providing updates, but they also plan to remove all Flash Player download links from their website.

This will prevent users from installing the software and continuing to use an unmaintained version.

Furthermore, Adobe also said that "Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date," suggesting the company has added or plans to add a so-called "time bomb" in the Flash Player code to prevent users from using it starting next year.

Out of curiosity, I just checked my WiFi, and fortunately, it's still working.   (I routinely use an Ethernet cable, so I would never have realized if the WiFi "disappeared").
I also did the Win10 update yesterday... so it's not a universal issue impacting all users.   (I realize this won't help you... but for others who may be wondering...)

Internet / Re: Compare Your Browser With Microsoft Edge Dev
« on: April 14, 2020, 12:07:14 PM »
EDGE (Chromium) stable has just been updated to 81.0.416.53 , which means the speed improvements advertised by this specific test has now been implemented.

The impact of extensions:
using EDGE 80.0.361.54   ;     vs.    using EDGE 81.0.416.53

+ Malwarebytes Browser Guard     -                     54.2
no extensions:                        49.6                   53.8
+https everywhere:                  48.3                   53.5
+uBlock Origin:                        45.8                    49.7
+https+uBlock:                        45.0
+https+uBlock+MalwareBytes:     -                      50.0 (49.4 on re-test)

It's interesting to note that, unlike other extensions (which slow down EDGE somewhat), MalwareBytes Browser Guard actually allows EDGE to run faster!

I updated (internal updater) earlier today, and am showing
version 4.1.0.56 ; component 1.0.867 ; update 1.0.22364

For those who may not have realized this, the CHROME version can be used in EDGE CHROMIUM.

I have been using Edge --- first, a "recent" version of "regular" Edge; and now, Edge Chromium --- and I'll say it's working really well for me.   It opens up MUCH faster than my other browsers (FF is especially slow to open) --- at least on my systems --- and I've been customizing its FAVORITES bar to meet my daily needs.

For extensions, I've added uBlock Origin, and HTTPS Everywhere.

I'd also like to say that, having just read your post in the PM forum, the "tone" of responses by moonchild and tobin are unacceptable :-(

As for DRM, "Pale Moon is based on much older code. It won’t have the new web features or performance improvements of modern versions of Firefox, nor does it support watching certain kinds of video with DRM".
