Thanks, Corinne.  I know my daughter did not have the money to purchase an extended warranty.

Hope there is a reply soon.  I, too, am in the market for an external cd/dvd for my netbook.

Here is a great recipe for Thanksgiving.

Horsey Carrots

A former Chief of Dietetics Service in a large hospital where I worked gave me this recipe.  He said he and his wife have to have it every Thanksgiving.  We just love it.
1 bag of baby carrots or 12 carrots, pared/sliced
1 cup mayonnaise
2 Tbs grated horseradish, more or less to taste
1/4 - 1/3 cup grated onion
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 cup fresh, buttered bread crumbs
Cook carrots until tender; drain.  Put in 1 quart baking dish.  Preheat oven to 300. Combine mayonnaise and horseradish.  Add onion, salt and pepper.  Mix well and stir into carrots.  Sauté breadcrumbs in enough butter to coat and put on top of carrot mixture in baking dish.  Bake 15 minutes.  Can be done ahead and baked before dinner.

My granddaughter broke the screen on her brand new laptop.  Do any of you know of a good source to get it repaired that won't be cost prohibitive.

Because my netbook does not have a cd drive, I downloaded from my old Outlook 2007 disk a copy of Outlook 2007 to a flash drive and loaded on the netbook.  However, it will not let me activate Outlook, even though I have the activation number from the back of the case.  I need it mainly for the Word program.  The way it is now, I cannot do any editing/changing to any of the Word documents I have loaded onto the netbook.

I have newer versions of Outlook on my other computers.  I have looked on the Microsft website/forums and cannot find a solution that works.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can go about activating Outlook 2007.  This is a legitimately purchased disk, by the way.

Thank you so much.  I will purchase a new USB drive to download these two programs.

Analysis and Malware Removal / Microsoft Windows Vista Security 2012

This past weekend a terrible thing happened to my old computer (thanks be to God that is was not my new computer). When I opened up the computer, in the lower right hand corner was a program running a "scan" of my computer - I knew I had not loaded such a program, but I could not stop it. I tried to open Malwarebytes, but got a message from that it was a Trojan. Tried to open a Word document, got the same message. Then tried to open IE and got the same message. By that time I knew I had a problem. So shut down the computer, unplugged it, and the CPU is now just sitting.

Does anyone know how I can rid the computer of this malware? Since I have a new computer, I normally would not be concerned; however, I have not transferred all of my data files (documents, pictures, etc.) to my new computer.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
